Zusammenfassung

Canva is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to own the data foundations powering our multimodal agent research, building pipelines, datasets, and tooling that turn ambitious ideas into trainable reality.

You'll design and maintain data pipelines across text, image, and multimodal sources, partner with researchers to translate requirements into concrete specifications, and ensure data quality, versioning, and scalable delivery for model training.

Qualifikationen

• Strong Python software engineering for production-grade data pipelines and ML DevOps.
• Prompt engineering experience for reliable LLM/VLM outputs.
• Experience with ML data workflows, large-scale processing, data versioning, and tokenization/batching/sharding.
• Hands-on experience with data pipelines for distributed ML training.
• Familiarity with annotation tooling (Label Studio) and human-in-the-loop data collection.
• Experience loading/writing large datasets to/from AWS and distributed storage.
• Strong communication to translate researchers’ needs into actionable data plans.
• Collaborative, ownership mindset with fast iterations.

Aufgaben

• Design and build data pipelines for agent training across text, image, and multimodal sources.
• Build and maintain infrastructure for data loading, storage, and retrieval at scale (S3, distributed systems, streaming).
• Collaborate with researchers to translate requirements into concrete data specifications.
• Create evaluation datasets and benchmarks in collaboration with researchers.
• Develop tooling for dataset construction including annotation workflows and synthetic data generation for RLHF/DPO training.
• Own data quality: validation frameworks, drift monitoring, reproducibility.
• Document datasets: provenance, limitations, intended use, versioning history.
• Implement comprehensive test coverage for data pipelines and ML workflows; promote engineering best practices.
• Identify data bottlenecks and contribute to team roadmaps.
