Dynatrace is hiring a Cloud Engineer to join the Platform Infrastructure team, focusing on Application Networking within a Kubernetes-based platform. You will design Istio service mesh policies, automate certificate lifecycles, and shape how internal and external traffic flows across environments.

You will deploy and operate core networking components, manage mTLS, and lead CI/CD/GitOps automation. This role spans AWS, Azure, and GCP with a strong observability focus.

Aufgaben

• Deploy, operate, and maintain core application networking components on Kubernetes (Istio, LoadBalancer, External-DNS, cert-manager).
• Design and enforce mTLS policies, traffic management rules, and authorization policies within the service mesh.
• Manage rollout and migration of workloads from Istio sidecar to Ambient Mesh mode.
• Automate DNS record lifecycle across cloud providers using External-DNS.
• Own certificate lifecycle management and PKI integration via cert-manager.
• Configure and maintain application load balancing using Kubernetes Gateway API and cloud-native ingress solutions.
• Automate deployments using CI/CD and GitOps principles (ArgoCD, ArgoWF, Jenkins).
• Collaborate with platform and product teams to provide secure, reliable, and observable service-to-service communication.
• Work with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, and GCP) to ensure resilient networking across environments.
• Participate in troubleshooting and incident resolution for networking and connectivity services.
• Continuously improve service monitoring and observability for mesh and networking components.

Our team builds and maintains the foundational infrastructure services used across the Dynatrace Platform.

We're looking for an experienced Cloud Engineer to join our Platform Infrastructure team with a focus on Application Networking. You will be working with service mesh technologies, DNS automation, certificate management, and application load balancing to deliver a secure, observable, and resilient connectivity layer for our Kubernetes-based platform - at scale.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys developer-side Kubernetes work, designing Istio service mesh policies, automating certificate lifecycles, and shaping how internal and external traffic flows across our platform.

What will help you succeed

• Deep knowledge and proven hands-on experience with Kubernetes networking and micro service architecture.
• Developer-oriented Kubernetes networking knowledge (Services, Ingress/Gateway API, NetworkPolicies).
• Experience with certificate management and DNS management.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and GitOps workflows.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP networking (at least one - VPC, load balancers, DNS, private connectivity).
• Solid understanding of TLS/PKI concepts (certificate issuance, rotation, trust chains).
• Basic understanding of Kubernetes Operators principles (CRD, Reconciliation)
• Terraform/OpenTofu experience for cloud networking resources (infrastructure currently partly managed this way - migrating towards more operators)

Nice-to-have

• Monitoring & observability experience for service mesh.
• Experience with any of these technologies: Kafka, PostgreSQL, Vault, RabbitMQ, Redis, External Secrets Operator (ESO) or Kyverno.

Compensation And Rewards

• Due to legal reasons, we are obliged to list a salary range for this position, which is € 61,000 up to € 76,000 gross per year based on full-time employment (38.5 h/week).
