Zusammenfassung

AFRY Finland is seeking a Market Modeller/Analyst to lead and support complex energy market modelling initiatives in our Vienna-based team. You will develop and apply sophisticated market models, analyse European electricity markets, and contribute to reports and client proposals.

You will model generation economics, renewable projects and flexibility technologies, supported by guidance from senior consultants. English proficiency and strong MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifikationen

• Graduate with a university degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Mathematics / Statistics / Econometrics, Technical Engineering, or other related fields
• Self‑initiative, focus on the goal with an eye on the consequences and a readiness to proactively support
• Advanced written and oral communication / presentation skills English (mandatory)
• Ability to work quantitatively with large datasets, develop analytical insights and communicate modelling outcomes effectively
• A plus if you have a solid understanding of European power markets and the fundamentals of electricity market modelling or even experience with power market models (e.g. BID3, PLEXOS, Aurora or similar)
• Additional Eastern European language skills (e.g. Bulgarian, Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Serbian/Croatian) are a clear advantage, and German knowledge would be very relevant in our business.
• Very good command of the MS office package, in particular Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Aufgaben

• Developing and applying AFRY's proprietary BID3 power market models and analytical tools to analyse European electricity markets and support strategic decision-making
• Supporting or leading power market modelling projects as well as preparing reports, presentations and proposals for clients across the energy sector
• Researching latest energy market developments, policy changes and market design evolutions in order to undertake market analysis, forecasting and modelling exercises
• Working on projects assessing the economics and commercial viability of generation assets, renewable energy projects and flexibility technologies (Batteries, Pumped Storage, Hydrogen, Demand‑Side Flexibility, etc.)
