Offer Description

The Department of Biotechnology and Food Science, Institute of Bioprocess Science and Engineering is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (project employment).

• Extent of employment: 40 hours per week
• Duration of employment: as of now, limited to 31st of October 2028
• Workplace: 1190 Vienna, Muthgasse 18
• Allocation in compliance with the Collective Agreement for University Staff to job group: B1 lit. b
• Gross monthly salary: (depending on previous eligible experience) at least: € 4.932,90 (payable 14 times per year)

Responsibilities

• Develop downstream processes for recombinant proteins produced in plants, starting from plant biomass all the way to purified product
• Troubleshoot process bottlenecks including protein stability issues
• Ensure high process speed and low costs
• Ensure process scalability
• Co-supervise PhD, master, bachelor students
• Prepare the publication of scientific results
• Participate in conferences
• Support teaching activities
• Support project administration

Required skills and qualifications

• Doctoral degree/PhD in Biotechnology, Bioprocess engineering or similar disciplines
• Ability and willingness to integratively work and lead in an international, diverse team of researchers

Desirable skills and qualifications

• Experience with plant molecular farming
