Zusammenfassung

The Zug Institute for Blockchain Research (ZIBR) at the University of Lucerne invites applications for a fully funded PhD position starting 1 January 2027 or by mutual agreement. The project examines welfare state transformation in the age of AI, within the ERC Starting Grant REPAIR, contributing to a broader research agenda across OECD countries.

Qualifikationen

• Completed Master's degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, Economics or related field.
• Interest in welfare state institutions, labour market regulation, social policy, technology governance and/or political economy.
• Strong knowledge of quantitative research methods; experience with R, Stata or Python or willingness to learn.
• Excellent command of English, spoken and written; ability to work independently in an international team.

Aufgaben

• Conduct independent doctoral research on welfare state transformation and AI-driven automation.
• Develop comparative indicators, surveys, and cross-national analyses related to project objectives.
• Publish research findings in peer-reviewed international journals (cumulative dissertation).
• Support principal investigator in research activities, grant management and organisation of workshops/conferences.
• Present research at international conferences and participate in the project’s research network.
