AT&S sucht am Standort Leoben eine IT Infrastructure & Security Specialist (Focus Linux Server). Sie sorgen für Hochverfügbarkeit, Stabilität und Sicherheit unserer Linux-Großsysteme in produktionsnahen Umgebungen.

Sie betreiben, warten und optimieren Linux-Plattformen, patchen OS/Kerneln, optimieren die Leistung und automatisieren operative Prozesse. Zusammenarbeit mit globalen IT-Teams, Lifecycle-Management und kontinuierliche Weiterentwicklung der Recheninfrastruktur stehen im Fokus.

Qualifikationen

• Abgeschlossenes Studium in IT, Informatik oder Netzwerktechnik oder gleichwertige Qualifikation.
• Fundierte Kenntnisse in Linux-Administrationen in Enterprise-Umgebungen.
• Ausgeprägtes Verständnis von Linux-Innenleben, Boot-Prozess, Systemd, Diensten und Prozessverwaltung.

Aufgaben

• Administrieren, Warten und Troubleshooting großer Linux-Umgebungen (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
• OS- und Kernel-Patching mit minimalen Ausfallzeiten durchführen.
• Fehleranalysen bei Linux-Problemen, einschließlich Boot-Problemen, Initramfs, Dateisystemfehlern, OOM, Leistungsproblemen.
• Tiefgehende Analysen von CPU-, Speicher-, I/O- und Netzwerkproblemen.
• Produktionsvorfälle bearbeiten, Root-Cause-Analysen durchführen und dauerhafte Lösungen implementieren.
• Shell-Skripte zur Automatisierung, Health Checks und Validierungen entwickeln.
• Zusammenarbeit mit Application-, Storage- und Network-Teams.
• Dokumentation, Runbooks und Patch-Verfahren pflegen.

In your role, you will ensure the high availability, stability, and security of enterprise Linux systems supporting mission-critical production environments. You will operate, maintain, and optimize Linux platforms, taking responsibility for OS and kernel patching, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and automation of operational processes. Working in close collaboration with global IT and infrastructure teams, you will contribute to reliable system operations, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement of enterprise computing environments.

• Perform OS and kernel patching across production and non-production systems with minimal downtime
• Troubleshoot complex Linux issues, including boot failures, initramfs issues, filesystem corruption, OOM events, and performance degradation
• Perform deep-dive analysis of CPU, memory, disk I/O, and networking issues
• Handle production incidents, perform RCA, and implement permanent fixes
• Develop and maintain shell scripts for automation, health checks, and validations
• Collaborate closely with application, storage, and network teams
• Maintain documentation, runbooks, and patching procedures

Profil

• Degree in IT, Computer Science, or Network Engineering
• Proven experience in Linux system administration within enterprise environments
• Deep understanding of Linux internals, including the boot process, systemd, services, and process management
• Strong knowledge of memory management, OOM behavior, swap, and caching mechanisms
• Extensive experience with OS and kernel patching in production and mission-critical systems
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex Linux issues under time-critical conditions
• Strong shell scripting skills (Bash) for automation and operational tasks
• Exposure to virtualization and container technologies such as VMware vSphere or Kubernetes is considered a plus
• Familiarity with automation or monitoring tools (e.g., Ansible, CheckMK) is an advantage
