JobsinAustria is recruiting a Head of Finance for our newly licensed Austrian entity. You will build and lead the local finance function, translate group policy into audit-ready operating frameworks, and own MiCAR compliance, prudential capital, and regulatory reporting to the FMA.

You will partner with Group Finance to define local vs group responsibilities and scale the team. You will drive treasury, client-asset safeguarding, and robust financial controls while delivering statutory accounts

Qualifikationen

• 7–10 years in finance with leadership at head or senior level.
• Strong grounding in prudential and capital requirements for regulated firms.
• Experience with Austrian UGB accounting and regulatory reporting or EU equivalent.
• Treasury and liquidity management across fiat and crypto.
• Understanding of client-asset safeguarding and segregation.
• Fluent in English; German language is a strong advantage for reporting.

Role overview

As Head of Finance for our newly licensed Austrian entity, you will build and lead the local finance function for a regulated Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP), supported by a publicly listed global group.

You will translate group policy into a live, audit-ready operating framework—owning local MiCAR compliance, prudential capital, regulatory reporting to the FMA, client-asset safeguarding, and fiat/crypto treasury. Operating within a high-value B2B/institutional model, you will partner closely with Group Finance to define local vs. group responsibilities, act as the primary liaison for auditors and regulators, and scale the local finance team as the entity grows.

Key Responsibilities

• Own local prudential capital and own funds under MiCAR. Monitor the own-funds requirement, capital adequacy and prudential safeguards, working with group finance on capital planning.
• Own treasury across both fiat and crypto, covering cash and liquidity management, funding, and bank and settlement relationships.
• Own the financial controls around client-asset safeguarding, including segregation and reconciliation of client crypto and fiat, alongside custody and compliance.
• Own the financial and management reporting. Statutory accounts under Austrian UGB, group reporting, board reporting, budgeting and planning.
• Own local regulatory and prudential reporting to the FMA, working with Legal & Compliance on local requirements.
• Provide the finance input to wind‑down and recovery planning, funding the runway, with Risk owning the triggers.
• Manage intra‑group financial arrangements, including cost allocation, recharges and the economics of intra‑group outsourcing, given the group contracting structure.
• Own the relationship with external auditors and tax advisors locally, alongside group finance.
• Build, develop and lead the local finance team as the entity scales.

Requirements

• 7–10 years in finance, including leadership at Head or senior level, ideally in regulated financial services or a crypto/fintech business.
• Strong grounding in prudential and capital requirements for a regulated firm. MiCAR own funds and safeguarding is a plus, or transferable experience from a CASP, EMI, investment firm or payments prudential regime.
• Able to define what good looks like in this domain and operate autonomously, setting the standard rather than waiting for direction.
• Austrian statutory accounting (UGB) and regulatory reporting experience, or a strong EU-equivalent that transfers.
• Treasury and liquidity management experience, ideally across both fiat and crypto.
• Solid understanding of client-asset safeguarding and segregation under a regulatory lens.
• Comfortable working across a group finance structure and defining a local operating model within it.
• Credible in front of a regulator and external auditors.
• Strong process and documentation discipline, able to turn a policy framework into demonstrable, audit-ready controls.
• Clear, plain communicator, strong with numbers, who turns finance into decisions the board and the business will use.
• Fluency in English is required; German is a strong advantage, particularly for Austrian statutory and regulatory reporting.
