Specific Requirements
The position:
The Chair of Practical Theology is dedicated to the scientific theory of ecclesiastical fields of practice and religious cultures in pastoral care, homiletics, liturgy, and congregational development. The future holder of the position is expected to have a strong research focus in one of these practical fields and to show a willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with neighbouring disciplines in the humanities and social science. In teaching, the subject should be represented in its entirety to offer central competencies for church-related professions in an academically responsible manner. Applicants are required to hold a completed doctorate (PhD) in a relevant area of Protestant Theology and a Habilitation (venia docendi) or an equivalent academic qualification (second book) in the field of Practical Theology. According to §15 paragraph 2 of the Federal Law on the External Legal Relations of the Protestant Church in Austria (BGBl 182/1961), membership of the Protestant Church is required.
