Job summary

The Welding Supervisor is responsible for overseeing welding operations in a manufacturing or construction environment. This role involves managing a team of welders, ensuring that welding projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards and specifications.

The Welding Supervisor also plays a key role in training staff, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a welding program or apprenticeship preferred.
• Relevant welding certifications (AWS/ASME) may be required or preferred.
• Proven experience as a welder with several years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• In-depth knowledge of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick) and materials.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of welders, providing training, mentorship, and support to ensure high-quality workmanship.
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee welding projects from start to finish, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery.
• Inspect welds and processes to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and safety regulations.
• Implement quality assurance measures to maintain high standards.
• Develop work schedules for welding staff based on project needs and team skills.
• Serve as primary contact for clients, engineers, and other trades, communicating progress and changes.
• Identify and resolve issues that arise during welding operations, offering solutions to complex problems.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, timelines, materials used, and scope changes.
• Ensure welding work adheres to safety protocols, promoting a culture of safety.
• Oversee maintenance and repair of welding equipment and tools for optimal performance and safety.
