Job summary

NMDC Group in the United Arab Emirates seeks a Welding Engineering and Projects Lead to direct and develop welding teams, ensure adherence to codes, and align with client specifications on pipelay projects.

You will drive safety, optimize processes, manage subcontractors and procurement, coordinate with PMT and Offshore Operations, and mentor teams to maintain high standards in demanding offshore environments.

Responsibilities

• Directs, trains, and manages welding teams for productivity with safety and quality.
• Ensures welding work follows codes, standards, and Client specifications.
• Identifies improvements to welding techniques and equipment to boost productivity and quality.
• Enforces safety protocols to mitigate accidents and injuries in welding activities.
• Manages manpower, consumables, and equipment to meet project budgets and timelines.
• Prepares service requisitions and evaluates subcontractors for pipelay-related work.
• Collaborates with PMT and Offshore Operations to complete welding on time and within scope.
• Leads training to keep teams qualified and current with industry skills.
• Coordinates with PMT, procurement, subcontracts, QA to ensure smooth welding operations.
• Estimation inputs to Contracts for new bids; procurement of welding equipment for pipelay.

Job description

• Leadership & Supervision: Directs, trains, and manage welding engineering and installation welding teams, ensuring productivity and adherence to safety and quality standards

• Quality Control: Ensures all welding work is done according to established codes, international standards, and Client’s specifications

• Process Improvement: Identifies and implement improvements to welding techniques and equipment to optimize productivity, reduce costs, and maintain quality

• Safety Compliance: Maintains a strong focus on safety protocols, ensuring all welding activities follow workplace safety guidelines, to mitigate accidents and injuries

• Resource & Budget Management: Manages manpower, welding consumables and equipment, ensuring availability of resources for execution of projects on time while staying within budget

• Management of subcontractors: Preparation of Service Requisitions, Technical Evaluation and management of subcontractors for various engineering and pipelay related activities (manpower, equipment rental, services, ECA, etc.)

• Project Coordination: Works closely with PMT and Offshore Operations to ensure welding activities are completed on time, within scope, and in alignment with project goals

• Training & Development: Ensures welding installation teams are well-trained, up to date with qualifications, and equipped with the latest skills to meet evolving industry demands

• Collaboration: Coordinates with other departments (e.g. PMT, procurement, subcontracts, asset integrity, quality assurance etc.) to ensure smooth execution of welding operations

Estimation: Provision of inputs to Contracts department for bidding of new projects. Estimation and procurement of pipeline welding equipment and auxiliary equipment for future pipelay projects
