Qualifications

• Proven experience as a welder; AWS certification is an asset.
• Knowledge of welding methods such as MIG/MAG welding.
• Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
• Physical strength and dexterity; ability to stand for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints or work orders to determine job specifications and procedures.
• Inspect assemblies and installations for conformity to blueprints.
• Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments together.
• Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
• Use jigs, welding torches, or soldering tools as necessary for assembly.
• Use grinding tools to smooth rough spots or joints in welds.
