Job Overview
The Valve Technician is responsible for inspection, maintenance, repair, testing, and refurbishment of industrial valves used in Oil & Gas, petrochemical, and process plant environments. The role requires hands-on technical expertise, strict adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work independently or as part of a maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform disassembly, inspection, repair, overhaul, and reassembly of various industrial valves such as gate, globe, ball, check, control, PSV, and actuated valves.
- Conduct valve testing, pressure testing, leak testing, and functional testing as per API, ASME, and client specifications.
- Identify valve defects, wear, corrosion, and operational issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance activities on-site or in workshop environments.
- Read and interpret valve drawings, manuals, work instructions, and technical specifications accurately.
- Ensure proper documentation of maintenance, inspection, and test records.
- Follow safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and company HSE policies at all times.
- Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and QA/QC teams to meet project and shutdown schedules.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Support shutdowns, turnarounds, and emergency maintenance activities when required.
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum 3 to 8 years of hands-on experience as a Valve Technician in Oil & Gas or petrochemical industries.
- Educational qualification: 10th / +2 / ITI in Mechanical or relevant trade.
- Proven experience in valve maintenance, testing, and overhaul activities.
- Familiarity with international standards such as API, ASME, ANSI, and ISO.
Skills Required
- Strong technical knowledge of industrial valves and actuators.
- Ability to use valve testing equipment, tools, and measuring instruments.
- Good understanding of safety practices and industrial maintenance procedures.
- Basic documentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team under site conditions.
- Physically fit to handle workshop and site-based valve maintenance work.
