Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is seeking a qualified ultrasound technologist to perform diagnostic sonography across obstetric, abdominal, pediatric and vascular studies. The role includes patient preparation, documentation and collaboration with radiologists to select appropriate procedures.

The candidate will ensure equipment functionality, participate in training and support in investigational techniques as required, and maintain clinical safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Radiography with a program certificate in Sonography (minimum one year syllabus).
• Bachelor's degree in Sonography accredited program (minimum three year syllabus).
• Associate's degree in Sonography (minimum two year syllabus) and registration with recognized radiologic/sonography bodies.

Responsibilities

• Performs ultrasound studies across obstetrical, abdominal, retroperitoneal, pediatric and vascular areas.
• Consults with physicians on patient history and selection of procedures and equipment for proper diagnosis.
• Prepares patient for exam and explains the procedure; performs the ultrasound exam and maintains records.
• Assists radiologists with invasive exams, checks equipment for proper function, and notifies engineers of malfunctions.

Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

This position is responsible for performing diagnostic sonographic imaging through the application of non-ionizing, high frequency sound waves for patients of all ages and maintaining safety at all times.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs ultrasound studies (i.e., obstetrical, abdominal, retroperitoneal, pediatric and vascular)
• Consults with physician regarding patient’s medical history and the selection of appropriate procedures and equipment required for proper diagnosis
• Prepares patient for exam and explains the procedure
• Performs ultrasound exam, maintains appropriate records and completes financial information for each study
• Assists radiologists with invasive exams and related procedures requiring sterile technique Performs checks on ultrasound equipment to ensure proper functioning of equipment and notifies clinical engineers of any equipment malfunctions Ensures that exam rooms are adequately supplied with linen and related medical supplies Schedules emergency patients for diagnostic ultrasound procedures Monitors all appointments scheduled for ultrasound exams Assists with clinical instruction of ultrasound students and residents Assists in new investigational techniques, procedures and equipment Perform any other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in Radiography plus a program certificate in Sonography (minimum one (1) year syllabus)
• Bachelor’s degree in Sonography accredited program (minimum three (3) year syllabus
• Associate’s degree in Sonography (minimum two (2) year syllabus) and registered with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists, the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologist, UK-HPC, Australian Sonographer accreditation Registry, Ireland Department of Health and Children, New Zealand – Australian Society for ultrasound in Medicine, South African Health Professional Council (as Radiographer)
