Position Overview
The Track Inspector is responsible for inspecting the track, switches and related infrastructure, including the access road and the loading/unloading terminals to ensure that the structures are safe for railway traffic.
Roles and Responsibility
- Inspects the track efficiently including switches and related infrastructure
- Records and interprets the results of the inspections and creates notifications of any track defects and unsafe conditions
- Logs the identified defects into the SAP asset management system and generates work orders
- Determines if the line is subject to speed restriction
- Ensures a safe working environment for all employees and Contractors operating in Etihad Rail
- Ensures that the assets are kept safely in accordance with the Asset Management Strategy of the Operations JV
- Communicates with the supervisor efficiently about necessary track repairs
- Represents the Structure Engineer at meetings as directed
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Academic Qualifications
- High School Certificate or equivalent
Professional Qualifications
- Proven knowledge of track inspection/ultrasonic testing
- Knowledge of applicable discipline based railway standards
- Full driving license
Experience
- Proven experience in track maintenance
- Experience in writing inspection reports
- Experience in heavy haul railway maintenance desired
Other Skills
- English as first language or advanced level of written and verbal skill
- Good planning skills
- Analytical skills for problem solving
- Basic skills in MS Office Programs
- Ability to deliver allocated elements of the Quality Management system
- Ability to work in a multicultural team
