Job summary

POWERTECH, a propulsion technology leader in Abu Dhabi, seeks a Senior Technologist to turn additive manufacturing capabilities into field-ready propulsion solutions. You will own the technology roadmap, steer cross-functional sprints from concept to TRL 6-7 prototypes, and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers.

Responsibilities include developing a 3-year AM strategy, leading design-for-AM studies, reviewing high-risk builds, protecting IP, and ensuring compliance with aerospace

Qualifications

• Requires MSc or PhD in Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace or related engineering.
• 5+ years in additive manufacturing or advanced product development.
• 2+ years at Principal/Lead level driving technology strategy.
• Mastery of metal AM (PBF-LB, EBM, DED or WAAM) and polymer/composite AM.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a 3-year AM technology & application roadmap linked to priorities and TRL/MRL gates.
• Lead design-for-AM (DfAM) sprints with internal design team and chief engineer for demonstrator builds.
• Coach and develop a team of application, prototype and IP engineers; foster technical excellence.
• Identify patentable inventions, manage disclosures and coordinate filings with Legal.
• Ensure governance, compliance and risk tracking for application programs.

Role Summary

You will be the senior technologist who turns POWERTECH’s world-class AM capabilities into fieldable solutions for our propulsion systems. Reporting to the Division Manager and sitting on the leadership team, you will own the technology roadmap, steer application engineering sprints from concept to TRL 6-7 prototypes, and mentor a multi-disciplinary group of engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategy & roadmap: Develop and maintain a 3-year AM technology & application roadmap linked to the company’s priorities and TRL/MRL gates. Lead horizon-scans and proof-of-concept studies for emerging processes, alloys and digital threads.
• Application engineering: Run design-for-AM (DfAM) sprints with the internal design team: requirement capture, topology/lattice studies, cost-benefit model. Serve as chief engineer for demonstrator builds, ensuring weight, performance and cost targets are met through.
• Technical leadership: Provide authoritative design and process guidance; review high-risk build files, post-processing protocols and qualification test plans. Coach and develop a team of application, prototype and IP engineers; foster a culture of technical excellence and rapid learning.
• IP & business development: Identify patentable inventions, manage invention disclosures and coordinate filings with Legal.
• Governance & compliance: Ensure all application programme follow the necessary standards and certifications. Track schedule, budget, and risk.
  
  

Mandatory Qualifications

• Education: M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace or related engineering discipline.
• Experience: 5+ years in additive manufacturing or advanced product development, with 2+ years at Principal/Lead level driving technology strategy and leading cross-functional teams.
• Domain depth: Demonstrated mastery of metal AM (PBF-LB, EBM, DED or WAAM) and polymer/composite AM, including process qualification and certification pathways.
• Leadership: Track-record of mentoring engineers and influencing executives.
  
  

Desired Skills

• Familiarity with PLM/MES tools and data-lake architectures for in-situ monitoring.
• Knowledge of patent landscaping, and tech-transfer agreements.
