Job summary

Tanqeeb is seeking a skilled Technician - Crane Mechanical for a steel plant in Abu Dhabi. The role requires 5 years of steel-industry experience focusing on crane mechanical maintenance, preventive and predictive tasks, and breakdown response.

ITI/Diploma qualification is required. You will inspect and repair EOT and overhead crane components, maintain gearboxes and brakes, and coordinate with electrical teams during outages.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the steel industry with crane mechanical maintenance.
• Experience in EOT and overhead cranes and related mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of EOT and overhead cranes.
• Inspect crane mechanical components for wear, damage and misalignment.
• Carry out maintenance and repair of hoisting, cross-travel and long-travel mechanisms.
• Inspect gearboxes, brakes, bearings, wheels, wires, drums, hooks and related components.
• Attend emergency crane breakdowns and restore equipment safely with minimal downtime.
• Support planned shutdowns, major overhauls and annual maintenance activities.
• Maintain lubrication and routine inspection per schedule and report results.
• Follow SOPs, permits and safety practices; ensure PPE usage and housekeeping.

Minimum Qualifications

Perform preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of EOT and overhead cranes in the steel plant. Inspect crane mechanical components for wear, damage, abnormal noise, vibration, overheating and misalignment. Carry out maintenance and repair of hoisting, cross-travel and long-travel mechanisms. Inspect and maintain gearboxes, couplings, brakes, bearings, wheels, shafts, wire ropes, drums, sheaves and hooks. Carry out wire rope inspection/replacement and ensure correct rope installation. Perform brake inspection, adjustment and replacement when required. Carry out crane wheel inspection, alignment and replacement. Attend emergency crane breakdowns and restore equipment safely within minimum possible downtime. Participate in planned shutdowns, major overhauling and annual maintenance activities. Carry out lubrication and routine inspection as per the maintenance schedule. Assist in crane gearbox, motor coupling, brake, wheel and hoisting mechanism overhauling. Identify abnormal conditions and report potential failures before breakdown occurs. Support root-cause analysis of repeated crane mechanical failures. Coordinate with electrical/instrumentation teams during crane maintenance and breakdown activities. Ensure proper use and availability of tools, tackles, lifting equipment and spare parts. Maintain maintenance records and report completed jobs to the supervisor. Follow approved SOPs, work permits, LOTO requirements and plant safety procedures. Ensure proper PPE and safe working practices during maintenance activities. Maintain good housekeeping around crane maintenance areas.
