Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Technical Operations Engineer (TOPS) for Abu Dhabi, UAE, initially based in London during construction of a new simulation center. The Advanced Capabilities team at Anduril develops operationally relevant wargaming and training to customers in multiple regions. This position is in a new simulation center in Abu Dhabi to provide training and simulation services to partners and customers in the region.

ABOUT THE JOB

We are looking for a Technical Operations Engineer (TOPS) to join our growing team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Initial role will be in London, UK, while the simulation center is being constructed. In this role, you will:

WHAT YOULL DO

• Serve in a customer-facing capacity within the Air Maneuver Dominance / Advanced Capabilities team, working directly with EDGE and the Emirati Ministry of Defense to develop and deploy Anduril integrated hardware-software products to meet customer and operational needs. You will support the delivery of contract deliverables to include developing the plan for, setting up the equipment of, configuring & testing the equipment and software to support Anduril’s immersive wargaming simulation and Augmented Reality demonstrations and presentations.
• You will support in-depth multi-day Wargaming Exercises that include planning, preparation, deployment and recovery of AR/VR and hardware equipment, as well as software and hardware troubleshooting actions in field environments, and follow up actions with software platform providers before, during and after the customer mission is completed.
• You will own the deployment of Anduril’s Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality, gaming engine and mission simulation software and associated hardware capabilities at demonstration events, exercises and wargames. You will work to proactively identify potential issues and execute solutions with minimal external support. You will build relationships and refine and improve processes across our Software, Hardware, Logistics, Growth, and Engineering teams to ensure that we are able to rapidly deliver an immersive, seamless and effective experience to our partners and customers.
• You will design & implement user feedback loops and effective event After Action Reviews to gather, triage, and prioritize requirements, feedback, issues, and challenges found through the employment of Anduril AR/VR, Visual and sim products during training, exercises, and daily corporate demo use; troubleshoot any issues with AR/VR headsets, laptops, software, network and other equipment as needed.
• You will provide input to product and engineering teams to drive the development of product features and configurations that enhance or greatly improve the employment of Anduril’s Virtual Warfare products.
• You will support end-users in understanding and using our capabilities through the development of relentless improving content, integration into existing Anduril and customer systems, and delivery of effective events that maximize engagement and understanding of the advanced warfare concepts and minimize the impact of hardware or software issues on the experience.
• You will develop and contribute to Advanced Capabilities team that includes cross-functional representation from Project and Program Managers, Operations Analysts, Mission Simulation Engineers, Wargaming Engineers, Design/Artists, senior Air Maneuver Dominance team and corporate leadership, other business lines, additional TOPS teammates as well as customers. You will be critical to ensure that the team continues to improve, refine and streamline user feedback and engagement systems, which include issue tracking, training sessions, refreshers, and focused preparation for both small scale demos and large scale exercises and events.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven experience working across a diverse set of clients, teams, roles, and operational environments while providing excellent customer service to the Maneuver Dominance business line (primary) as well as additional business lines (Secondary).
• Demonstrated comfort communicating effectively both internally and externally: on the team, as well as across Anduril’s many other business lines, software platforms, organizations and clients.
• Experience with complex problem solving, proactive planning, rehearsals and troubleshooting to ensure seamless, transparent customer experience. Successful teammates have demonstrated a level of ‘healthy paranoia’ that borders on OCD-level attention to detail and obsession with ensuring the product is ready to go before putting customers inside Anduril’s immersive wargaming and VR/AR world.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain associated country background check and security clearance to support increasingly complex and potentially classified exercises.
• Willingness to travel, be based in the UAE, and participate in collaboration with teammates in the UK and USA.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with software engineering, especially hands on experience using & trouble shooting AR/VR technologies, virtual servers, audio/visual, and desktop software.
• Experience and familiarity with military operations, tactics, techniques, procedures, and hierarchies.
• Familiarity with Confluence, Jira, Slack, Quip, MS Office and Zoom as means to organize data and communicate across our teams effectively.
• Experience with military technology to include but not limited to: Unmanned systems (air and ground), Communications and Electronic Warfare equipment, Joint Fires and Maneuver Warfare munitions and vehicles to allow you to integrate more quickly and effectively within and across the Maneuver Dominance team and alongside the customer.
• Experience building trust with clients and teammates quickly and effectively under sometimes stressful conditions.
• Prior military or government leadership experience
