Job summary

1inch is seeking an experienced Tech Lead, Backend (Go, TypeScript) to guide the technical direction and micro-architecture of backend platform services powering its DeFi platform. The role combines hands-on coding with leadership to ensure scalable, secure and high-performance systems while mentoring engineers across Product, Blockchain, Infrastructure and DevOps teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional backend software engineering experience with technical leadership responsibilities.
• Recent experience in a Defi / Blockchain or Web3 company as a Tech Lead or Senior engineer seeking a Tech Lead role.
• Expert-level Go backend development and strong TypeScript experience.
• Deep expertise designing and operating distributed systems, event-driven architectures and cloud-native platforms.
• Experience building secure, scalable, highly available production systems.
• Understanding of blockchain infrastructure, smart contracts, and Web3 backend development.
• Experience using AI-native engineering environments and applying AI-assisted engineering across architecture and delivery.

Responsibilities

Your mission

We are looking for an experienced Tech Lead, Backend (Go, Typescript) to lead the technical execution, micro-architecture and engineering excellence of backend platform services powering the core of the 1inch DeFi platform.

This is a hands‑on technical leadership role for an experienced backend engineer who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to guide a team in delivering high-quality software. You will own the technical direction of your team’s services, ensuring they are scalable, resilient, secure and performant while mentoring engineers and raising engineering standards.

You will work on distributed backend systems, blockchain integrations, blockchain indexing services and mission‑critical platform capabilities operating under demanding performance and correctness requirements.

What You’ll Do

• Own the technical design and micro-architecture of backend services within your team’s domain
• Lead technical planning, implementation decisions and architecture reviews
• Establish engineering standards, coding practices and backend architecture patterns
• Balance feature delivery with long‑term maintainability, reliability and technical debt reductionAct as the primary technical quality gate for production changes. Spend approximately 50-80% of your time writing production code in Go and TypeScript
• Design, build and operate scalable, resilient and high-performance backend services across their full lifecycle
• Build backend systems that integrate with smart contracts, blockchain infrastructure and Web3 services
• Design and operate blockchain indexing and data processing systems supporting routing, pricing, execution, portfolio and analytics capabilities
• Lead AI‑first engineering practices while mentoring engineers and partnering with Product, Blockchain, Infrastructure, Security and DevOps teams

Who You Are

• You have 8+ years of professional backend software engineering experience, including technical leadership responsibilities
• You must have recent experience within a Defi / Blockchain or Web3 company as a Tech Lead or Senior engineer who is looking for their next role as a Tech Lead managing a team
• You have expert‑level experience building backend systems with Go and strong professional experience with TypeScript
• You have deep expertise designing and operating distributed systems, event‑driven architectures and cloud‑native platforms
• You have strong experience building secure, scalable and highly available production systems
• You have strong understanding of blockchain infrastructure, smart contracts, blockchain indexing and Web3 backend development
• You have extensive practical experience using Cursor AI or comparable AI‑native engineering environments
• You have proven experience applying AI‑assisted engineering across architecture, implementation, testing, debugging, documentation and code review
• You have experience designing or scaling agentic software delivery workflows and helping engineering teams adopt AI effectively
• You understand how AI can accelerate software delivery without compromising engineering quality, security or maintainability
• You have excellent system design, communication and technical leadership skills

Nice to haves

• Experience with MCP-based engineering workflows
• Experience building internal AI engineering platforms or developer productivity tooling
• Experience with multiple blockchain ecosystems beyond EVM
• Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes or advanced cloud-native infrastructure
• Cloud, Kubernetes, security or blockchain certifications
