Aldar Academies seek an outstanding Teacher of Humanities (History and Geography) for Al Ain British Academy with immediate start. The role requires a strong command of the English National Curriculum and GCSE standards, and experience with EAL students will be advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Humanities Teacher in the English Curriculum.
• Experience with EAL, SEN differentiation is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Create a climate for learning conducive to outstanding practice.
• Identify clear teaching and learning objectives and set targets.
• Differentiate lessons for SEN (POD), EAL and G&T students.
• Plan lessons with pace, challenge and engagement.
• Assess learning using formative and summative methods and use data to inform planning.
• Mark work regularly and set progression targets.
• Record student progress and maintain accurate records.
• Undertake formal assessments as required by examination bodies.
• Prepare and present informative reports to parents and attend events.
• Contribute to subject development through curriculum planning and collaboration.

Aldar Academies are currently seeking an outstanding Teacher of Humanities (History and Geography) for Al Ain British Academy, i mmediate start .

This is an exciting opportunity to join the highly successful Aldar family.

Al Ain British Academy opened in September 2011 providing high quality education in the heritage ‘Garden City’ of the United Arab Emirates. The children are taught the English National Curriculum – tailored to be meaningful to children living in Al Ain. Facilities at the school are excellent and include a large astro-turf field, two swimming pools, well-stocked library, a large multi-purpose sports hall, an auditorium and outdoor play areas. Candidates must have a secure knowledge of teaching the English National Curriculum and GCSE. Experience of teaching students for whom English is not their first language, would be an advantage. Potential candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of implementing effective strategies to raise standards and plug gaps in learning to ensure outstanding progress for all. They will be able to demonstrate leadership skills/experiences at a variety of levels and to be effective in working collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities

• Creating a climate for learning that is conducive for outstanding practice;
• Identifying clear teaching and learning objectives;
• Setting clear targets, building on prior attainment;
• Identifying SEN (POD), EAL and G&T students and ensuring that their needs are met through differentiation;
• Providing clear structure and planning for lessons and learning activities that maintain pace, challenge and engagement;
• Making effective use of assessment for learning;
• Making effective use of performance data and key indicators to inform planning and therefore deliver differentiated lessons;
• Making effective use of ICT to enhance learning and progress
• Maintaining discipline in accordance with the school’s ‘Behaviour for Learning Policy’ and encouraging good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and homework;
• Assess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use them to improve specific aspects of teaching and learning;
• Mark students' work regularly, and set targets for progress, in accordance with the school’s Marking Policy;
• Assess and record students' progress systematically and keep records; using performance data to inform planning, student learning and progress;
• Undertake assessment of students as requested by examination bodies, department and school procedures
• Prepare and present informative reports to parents
• Attend and support parent/student events.
• Take part in subject development by producing, reviewing and updating curriculum plans and schemes of work
• Meeting with other professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists, if required.
• Any other duties as assigned by the SLT.
