Job summary

The Boring Company is seeking a TBM Mechanic for the Dubai Loop to keep Tunnel Boring Machines moving, minimize downtime, and perform preventative maintenance in an underground environment. You’ll collaborate with operators, electricians, and engineers as part of the founding field team on a high-profile tunneling project in Dubai.

3+ years as a heavy equipment or industrial mechanic, with strong hydraulic and rotating equipment knowledge.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a heavy equipment or industrial mechanic.
• Solid understanding of hydraulic systems, gearboxes, rotating equipment, and rigging fundamentals.
• Ability to work in confined, underground environments and adapt to high-pressure repair scenarios.
• Hands-on mentality and willingness to get dirty to get the job done.
• Currently based in the UAE or GCC region, or eligible to work in the UAE.
• Experience with TBMs, roadheaders, or similar mining equipment is a major plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues across TBM systems (cutterheads, conveyors, hydraulic circuits, and support gear).
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to reduce downtime during critical dig operations.
• Respond to unplanned breakdowns with field-ready mechanical solutions.
• Inspect, adjust, and rebuild mechanical components to extend machine life.
• Support TBM assembly, commissioning, and launch activities as the project mobilizes.
• Work underground and on rotating shifts to support 24/7 tunnel progress.
• Ensure all mechanical work complies with UAE regulations and safety standards.
• Document mechanical issues and solutions for continuous improvement.

Job Description

The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more, enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.

We're looking for a TBM Mechanic to keep our Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) moving forward on the Dubai Loop. This role is critical to minimizing downtime, performing field repairs, and executing preventative maintenance to keep the machine operating at full speed. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with operators, electricians, and engineers in a fast-paced, underground environment — as part of the founding field team on one of the most high-profile tunneling projects in the world.

• Hands-on mentality and willingness to get dirty to get the job done
• Currently based in the UAE or GCC region, or eligible to work in the UAE
• Experience working with TBMs, roadheaders, or similar mining equipment is a major plus
• Experience with soft-ground TBM systems (EPB/slurry) — screw conveyors, ground conditioning, slurry circuits — a plus
• Experience on major Gulf-region infrastructure or oil & gas projects a plus
