Job summary

Harris Pye in Sharjah invites a seasoned Tax Manager to shape the Group's global tax strategy across jurisdictions, with emphasis on Saudi Arabia and the UAE. You will work closely with finance, operations, external advisers, auditors and tax authorities to optimise tax positions and ensure compliant reporting.

The ideal candidate has 7–10 years in tax compliance, planning and advisory, GCC experience, and a background in multinational environments.

About the job

The Tax Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing the Group's global tax strategy and ensuring compliance with all direct and indirect tax obligations across the jurisdictions in which Harris Pye operates. The role has responsibility for managing tax risk, supporting international business activities (including compliance and reporting), and providing expert advice on tax matters that impact the Group's operations.

The position requires a strong technical background in international taxation (especially Saudi and UAE), excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to translate complex tax matters into practical business solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with finance teams, operational leaders, external advisers, auditors, and tax authorities.

Tax Strategy and Governance
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Group's global tax strategy in line with business objectives and applicable regulations.
  • Establish and maintain an effective tax governance framework and ensure compliance with Group policies and procedures.
  • Provide strategic tax advice to senior management and support the Board on key tax matters.
  • Monitor changes in international tax legislation and assess their impact on the Group.
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimise tax positions.
  • Ensure appropriate tax advice is sought to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Coordinate and manage tax audits and disputes, including responding to tax authorities' inquiries, providing necessary documentation, and representing the company during tax audits or appeals.
Corporate Tax Compliance
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of corporate income tax returns across all jurisdictions where Harris Pye operates. Coordinate with local finance teams and external advisers in the process.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and manage relationships with the relevant tax authorities in the countries where Harris Pye operates/provide services.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and support for all tax positions adopted by the Group.
International Tax and Transfer Pricing
  • Manage transfer pricing policies and ensure compliance with local and international requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation and maintenance of transfer pricing documentation.
  • Advise on cross-border transactions and international business structures.
  • Assess the tax implications of new projects, business expansions, and changes in operating models.
Tax Accounting and Reporting
  • Manage the Group's tax accounting processes in accordance with IFRS.
  • Support the calculation of monthly tax charge for financial reporting to the shareholders.
  • Review tax provisions and deferred tax calculations for statutory and consolidated financial statements.
  • Support the year-end audit process and provide tax-related information to external auditors.
  • Responsible to provide tax provisions and forecasts to facilitate the decision-making process.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of tax reporting across the Group.
Indirect Taxes
  • Oversee VAT and other indirect tax compliance across the Group.
  • Provide guidance to finance and operational teams on indirect tax matters.
  • Review business processes to identify and mitigate indirect tax risks.
  • Support the implementation of systems and controls to improve compliance.
Business Partnering and Transaction Support
  • Provide tax advice on mergers, acquisitions, disposals, restructurings, and financing activities.
  • Support contract negotiations and commercial arrangements from a tax perspective.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify tax opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in strategic projects and provide tax input on new business initiatives.
  • Identify, assess, and manage tax risks across the Group.
  • Lead responses to tax audits, reviews, and investigations.
  • Develop and implement action plans to address tax exposures and improve controls.
  • Maintain a tax risk register and regularly report significant matters to senior management.
  • To ensure compliance with customs regulations.
Leadership and Team Management
  • Lead and develop the Group's tax function and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Coach and mentor finance team members on tax matters and enhance tax awareness throughout the organisation by conducting regular trainings on direct and indirect taxes, customs regulations, transfer pricing etc.
  • Manage external advisers and ensure cost-effective delivery of tax services.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across different regions and functions.
  • Any other ad-hoc requirements.
QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Advanced taxation degree/certification or professional accounting qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CPA or an equivalent is preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in tax compliance, tax planning, and tax advisory roles, preferably with experience in a multinational company or Big4 accounting firm. 5 years’ experience in GCC is a must.
  • Experience in the engineering, industrial, manufacturing, marine, energy, or project-based sectors is highly desirable.
  • Experience in managing tax matters across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external tax authorities.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tax projects simultaneously.
  • Traveling - Up to 20% especially frequent visits to HP Saudi operations.
