Job summary

Censys is seeking a senior security data engineer to design and maintain large-scale file analysis pipelines and threat intelligence systems. The role emphasizes building graph-based threat intel, expanding sandboxing capabilities, and ensuring robust data ingestion and normalization.

You will collaborate with research and detection teams, optimize cloud deployments, and advance observability while handling sensitive samples securely and documenting procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/Engineering.
• 6+ years building security data pipelines, detection engineering systems, or threat intelligence platforms.
• Experience with graph-based threat intel platforms (Synapse, Maltego, Neo4j).
• Strong Python and/or Go programming skills.
• Experience with distributed data pipelines and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Demonstrated use of LLM-based coding harnesses and agent-based development workflows.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of static and dynamic malware analysis tooling and pipelines
• Experience with distributed data pipelines and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Familiarity with containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Demonstrated experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Demonstrated use of LLM-based coding harnesses and agent-based development workflows

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Synapse, MISP, OpenCTI, or other TIP platforms
• Familiarity with STIX/TAXII
• Experience working with internet-wide scan data
• Open source contributions to security tooling
• CI/CD experience applied to detection content
• Experience with file scanning frameworks (e.g., Assemblyline, FAME)
