Job summary

GAL Global Aerospace Logistics in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Maintenance Operations professional to oversee platform maintenance, planning, and scheduling ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality aircraft maintenance services at the base.

You will manage day-to-day operations, drive maintenance targets, coordinate with Supply Chain, and foster staff development while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental policies.

Responsibilities

• Supervises day-to-day operations of the platform Maintenance Operations to ensure work processes are followed and compliant with policies and procedures.
• Manages implementation of maintenance planning at the base to ensure repairs and services are efficient and cost-effective.
• Supports Operations Manager in developing maintenance targets for availability and performance improvements.
• Contributes to maintenance scheduling development and ensures on-time execution of planned maintenance.
• Coordinates maintenance planning activities, scheduling, base communications, and workload management to prevent delays.
• Oversees guidance and counseling of personnel in the section.
• Reviews processes and SOPs and proposes changes to improve efficiency and safety.
• Resolves day-to-day maintenance problems to provide high-quality service to aircraft at the base.
• Ensures maintenance activities are conducted safely, compliantly, and to high quality standards.
• Keeps aircraft available and ready to fly when required, meeting required standards.
• Develops preventative maintenance schedules to cover aircraft maintenance and minimize breakdowns.
• Monitors usage of materials and consumables to align with budgeted assumptions.
• Contributes to ongoing asset condition reviews to support GAL strategic objectives and compliance.
• Sets individual goals, manages performance, and fosters staff development and engagement.
• Supports Supply Chain in negotiations with contractors and clear statements of work.
• Maintains relationships with third-party providers to ensure service targets without adding overhead.
• Ensures compliance with safety, quality and environmental policies across Maintenance Operations.
• Promotes participation in change initiatives reflecting best practices and competitive environment.
• Ensures direct reports support safety, quality and environmental controls and encourage responsible attitude.
• Executes day-to-day operations assigned to the section per standards and procedures.
• Prepares statements and reports timely to meet GAL and department requirements.
• Prepares function statements and reports per GAL policies and standards.
• Conducts interviews to fill vacancies within the section as required.
• Follows policies and procedures to maintain controlled and consistent work practices.
• Complies with safety, quality and environmental management policies to ensure a safe workplace.
• May temporarily assume Aviation Maintenance Manager duties as directed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Overview

Assist the Workshops Management to accomplish aviation unit and intermediate maintenance inspections, services, and repairs on all assigned aircraft components.

• 1. Supervises the day-to-day operations of the platform Maintenance Operations section to ensure that work processes are implemented as designed and comply with established policies, processes and procedures.
• 2. Under the direction of the Manager Operations, manages the implementation of the maintenance planning at the assigned base to ensure that repair and maintenance services are accomplished efficiently in the most productive and cost-effective manner.
• 3. Supports the Operations Manager with the development of optimum maintenance planning targets covering maintenance efficiencies and availability at the base, ensuring reliability and performance improvement to improve the maintenance effectiveness and speed of service
• 4. Contributes to the development of maintenance schedules, and implements them as part of operation and maintenance planning to execute on time and scheduled maintenance in order to ensure that aircrafts are working to their optimum efficiency and capability.
• 5. Supports the Operations Manager in the coordination of maintenance planning activities at the base, maintenance scheduling short and long term, base capability communication and workload planning and management to ensure smooth functioning of the base’s activities and avoiding possible delays and maintenance failures.
• 6. Responsible for oversight guidance and counseling of all personnel assigned to that section.
• 7. Review processes and procedures and providing recommended changes to Standard Operating Procedures.
• 8. Manages the resolution of the operational day-to-day maintenance problems to ensure a highly efficient, effective and quality service is extended to customers’ aircrafts at the base.
• 9. Ensures that all aircraft maintenance activities take place in an efficient, compliant and safe manner to assure a high quality of maintenance operations at the base.
• 10. Ensures that military aircraft maintenance services are continuously available to customers so that aircrafts are operational and ready to fly when required and at a level that meets the required standards.
• 11. Develops preventative maintenance schedules to cover all relevant aircraft maintenance so that it is maintained in optimum working order and breakdowns are minimized.
• 12. Monitors the usage of materials, spares and consumables to ensure that consumption is consistent with budgeted assumptions.
• 13. Contributes towards the on-going review of the physical condition of the base operational assets to ensure that those assets are in a suitable condition to allow GAL to fulfil its strategic objectives and comply with any relevant legislation.
• 14. Manages the achievement of objectives by setting individual goals and objectives, managing performance, developing staff and providing formal and informal feedback in order to maximizes overall performance and engagement.
• 15. Assists the Supply Chain function in the negotiations with contractors providing a clear statement of work and understanding
• 16. Maintains relationships with third-party providers, through the Supply Chain function, of operational and maintenance personnel so that GAL is able to fulfil its operational service, safety, environmental and cost targets without unnecessary addition to the company are fixed overhead
• 17. Ensures compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the Maintenance Operations at the Facility to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality aircraft maintenance service and a responsible environmental attitude
• 18. Sponsors opportunities to take part in change initiatives, programs and projects that reflect international best practices and changes in the competitive environment.
• 19. Ensures direct reports adhere to and support all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls, promoting employee safety, legislative compliance and promotes a responsible environmental attitude.
• 20. Implements the day-to-day operations assigned for the section to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures.
• 21. Prepares statements and reports, timely and accurately to meet GAL and departmental requirements, policies and standards.
• 22. Prepares function statements and reports in a timely and accurate manner to meet the requirements of GAL and department policies and standards.
• 23. Must conduct interviews when required to fill vacancies within section.
• 24. Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
• 25. Comply with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
• 26. May temporarily assume the duties of Aviation Maintenance Manager as directed.
