Job summary

McDermott International, Ltd is seeking a Superintendent Piping to lead on-site piping operations with a focus on safety, scheduling, and quality. You will organize labor, materials, and equipment, ensure adherence to design specifications, and drive efficiency across multi-disciplinary teams on complex EPCI projects.

The role requires extensive supervisory experience, strong knowledge of piping installation, and familiarity with offshore and onshore construction activities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
  • 7 to 10 years of Energy & Petrochemical experience across EPCI delivery phases.
  • Minimum 5 years in supervisory roles with large bore piping installation and pressure testing.
  • Extensive knowledge in piping planning and installation.
  • Familiar with all phases of field construction operations, including field engineering and site management.
  • Understanding of Critical Path Scheduling basics.
  • Knowledge of pipe & valve testing and handover to completions processes.
  • Ability to lead teams and function as a team leader.
  • Broad experience with on/offshore operations and technical activities.
  • Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, plan, and direct piping on-site labor, materials, scaffolding, and equipment for the scope of work.
  • Ensure site operations meet design specs, deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Lead safety culture on the project and integrate safety into all tasks.
  • Estimate worker-hour requirements based on production schedules.
  • Suggest improvements to methods, equipment, and conditions to boost efficiency.
  • Resolve work problems and assist supervisors in decision-making.
  • Approve personnel actions such as promotions and transfers.
  • Coordinate with other supervisors to ensure department goals are met.
  • Implement health, safety, and environment programs in line with company policies.
  • Adhere to company policies and project procedures throughout the project.
  • Use reports to manage project scope and ensure timely field execution.
  • Promote a relentless safety plan and monitor its execution.
  • Oversee project control activities and daily cost management.
  • Demonstrate business acumen within the area of responsibility.
  • Understand change management processes and reporting requirements.
  • Complete daily reporting accurately and on time.
  • Conduct daily risk management with project leaders to mitigate issues.
  • Oversee manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontracts to match the project schedule.
  • Coordinate pipe and valve testing and handover processes to completions.
  • Follow material management and change control processes.
  • Develop detailed area schedules and ensure changes are communicated and implemented.
  • Ensure scheduling and sequencing are integrated and controlled for timely execution.
  • Ensure adherence to the quality management plan and verify workmanship meets standards.
  • Lead implementation and enforcement of McDermott policies and procedures.
  • Ensure teams understand their authority and responsibilities under policies.
  • Ensure mandatory training is completed by teams.

Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Organize, plan, and direct the piping on-site labor, ordering of materials, scaffold, supplies, tools & construction equipment for the scope of work
  • Ensure assigned job site operations comply with design/specifications, completion on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards
  • Play a leadership role in the development of the safety culture on the project, making safety a natural part of all work performed
  • Study production schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for completion of job assignments
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality, and suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist supervisors and foremen in solving work problems
  • Approve personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, terminations, and disciplinary actions
  • Confer with other supervisors to captivities of individual departments
  • Adopt company health, safety, and environment programs and ensure the implementation
  • Ensure that company objectives, policies, programs, and procedures are consistently adhered to
  • Use available reports to manage project scope and ensure the appropriate steps are taken to build the project successfully in the field
  • Emphasize a culture of safety throughout the project and ensure the safety plan is executed relentlessly
  • Ensure project control activities and costs are managed daily and that appropriate actions are taken to ensure consistent deliverables and successful project execution
  • Demonstrates business acumen within the area of responsibility
  • Understand the change management process
  • Complete all daily reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner
  • Conduct risk management analysis daily working with project leaders to ensure timely mitigation and documentation
  • Oversee, direct, and coordinate manpower, equipment, material, and subcontract activities to the project schedule
  • Oversee, direct, and coordinate the pipe & valve testing and handover to completions
  • Ensure the material management plan is followed as well as any change control processes
  • Understand and support the development of a detailed schedule for specific areas of responsibility
  • Ensure scheduling, sequencing of activities, and all changes are incorporated, developed, controlled, managed, and communicated as required and actions are taken to ensure timely execution
  • Ensure the quality management plan is followed and verifies the quality of work being installed meets and/or exceeds expectations
  • Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures
  • Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures
  • Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 7 to 10 of experience within the Energy & Petrochemical Industry through all phases of EPCI project delivery
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience and in-depth experience in large bore piping installation and pressure test
  • Extensive knowledge in planning and installation of piping
  • Knowledge of all phases of construction operations – field engineering, construction technologies, and job site management
  • Understanding of Critical Path Scheduling basics
  • Understand of processes ofpipe & valve testing and handover to completions
  • Ability to work as a team member as well as a team leader
  • Have wide experience with technical activities, including on and offshore operations
  • Time management and organization skills with strong attention to detail/follow-up
  • Computer literate in Microsoft programs: Word, Excel, Project
  • Self-motivated, self-reliant, and able to operate independently, while exercising good independent judgment anddecision-making
