Job summary

Egis is seeking a highly experienced Structural Inspector in Abu Dhabi to oversee inspection and monitoring of all structural works during construction. The role requires proven experience in theme parks, themed environments, and complex steel structures, ensuring compliance with drawings, specs, codes, and safety standards.

You will conduct daily site inspections, review welding, concrete placement, and temporary works, coordinate with MEP and architectural teams, and maintain detailed records

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in supervision of construction.
• Proven experience with reinforced concrete and structural steel inspections.
• Experience in theme parks, themed attractions, or similar immersive environments.
• Familiarity with UAE building regulations and quality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily site inspections of foundations, frames, precast elements, and steel works.
• Verify compliance with IFC/shop drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
• Inspect reinforcement, welding, bolted connections, and coating applications.
• Monitor temporary works, shoring, falsework, and scaffolding.
• Maintain inspection records, NCRs, IRs, and other quality documentation.
• Coordinate with architectural, MEP, theming, and other contractors.

Job Description

Position Overview

The Structural Inspector will be responsible for the inspection and monitoring of all structural works during the construction phase, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes, contract requirements, and quality standards. The role requires proven experience in theme parks, themed entertainment destinations, attraction facilities, and complex steel structures associated with themed environments, ensuring that all structural elements are constructed safely, accurately, and in accordance with the design intent.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily site inspections of structural works, including foundations, piles, pile caps, rafts, slabs, beams, columns, retaining walls, precast elements, and structural steel works.
• Verify that all structural works are executed in accordance with approved IFC drawings, shop drawings, specifications, method statements, and contract requirements.
• Inspect reinforcement installations and verify compliance prior to concrete placement.
• Witness concrete placement, sampling, testing, curing, and quality control activities.
• Inspect structural steel fabrication and erection works, including steel frames, trusses, canopies, themed support structures, ride support structures, and feature elements.
• Verify compliance of welded and bolted connections with approved drawings, specifications, and inspection requirements.
• Review welding procedures, welder qualifications, material certificates, mill certificates, and fabrication records.
• Monitor steel surface preparation, galvanizing, fireproofing, and protective coating applications.
• Verify structural alignment, plumbness, tolerances, temporary bracing, and erection stability requirements.
• Conduct inspections at fabrication yards and factories, as required.
• Monitor temporary works, shoring, falsework, scaffolding, and structural bracing systems.
• Ensure proper coordination between structural, architectural, MEP, theming, attraction, and specialty contractor activities.
• Inspect foundations and supporting structures for themed elements, attraction facilities, show buildings, rides, and entertainment structures.
• Identify defects, non-conformances, and construction deviations, and ensure timely corrective actions are implemented.
• Maintain inspection records, site diaries, non-conformance reports (NCRs), inspection requests (IRs), and quality documentation.
• Participate in progress meetings and provide technical recommendations related to structural works.
• Assist with snagging, de-snagging, substantial completion, and final handover activities.
• Ensure compliance with project quality, safety, and environmental requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in construction supervision consultancy roles.
• Proven experience in the inspection and supervision of reinforced concrete and structural steel works.
• Demonstrated experience in structural steel fabrication, erection, welding inspections, bolted connections, and steel quality control.
• Experience with theme parks, themed attractions, entertainment destinations, hospitality developments, or iconic projects is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with UAE building regulations, international standards, and construction quality requirements.
• Ability to review and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, steel fabrication drawings, and bar bending schedules.
• Strong communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
