A leading energy company in Abu Dhabi seeks a Corporate Communications Manager to develop and implement strategic communication initiatives. The role involves overseeing media relations, crisis management, and ensuring alignment with corporate goals. Candidates should possess strong experience in communications, especially within the nuclear sector, along with a relevant degree.
To lead the development and implementation of key Strategic Corporate Communications programs for ENEC and its subsidiaries to ensure alignment with corporate and divisional goals and objectives.
Operational Planning
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Provide input into the development of the Division’s systems, processes and procedures, as well develop and implement the Department’s systems and processes, identifying potential areas of improvement to ensure efficient, effective, safe and risk-free operations as well as compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor, control and report operational and financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to the Department, to track performance and recommend corrective or mitigating actions.
• Ensure that all relative reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet the Department’s requirements and standards
Corporate Communications Strategy
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Oversee the development of, review and approve the annual Corporate Communications Strategy, Annual Communications Plan and related Media and Social Media Plans, Business Plan, and Budget to ensure alignment with ENEC’s and its subsidiaries’ objectives.
• Utilize Enterprise objectives and projects, annual public opinion poll, industry data and status, and advocacy trends to develop, deliver and track an integrated and strategic communications plan to help realize the enterprise’s vision and business strategy.
• Support the development of advocacy and outreach programs to build the reputation and awareness of ENEC through third party endorsement and build ambassadors across key stakeholder groups.
• Create and maintain a centralized system to schedule, co-ordinate and align communications activity and content across our different service areas.
• Provide strategic counsel to the Enterprise Communication Director and the Senior Management on critical communications issues for decision-making.
• Oversee the development of, monitor and approve the dissemination of corporate messages across the Enterprise and assess their efficiency and effectiveness in order to propose continuous improvement of the Enterprise Communications strategy, required action plans, and communications channels. Ensure that a corporate messaging house and narrative is maintained and updated.
• Alert management of any trending or breaking news within the nuclear industry, or within UAE / Abu Dhabi Inc to ensure management are up to date.
• Support key Enterprise projects and programs by preparing communications plans.
• Oversee the development of media relations and digital/social media communications plans, ensuring these align to
• Closely collaborate and align with all other Enterprise Communications & Executive Affairs Managers to ensure consistent messaging and timely dissemination for BAU, extraordinary and crisis communications issues.
• Stay up to date with latest communications trends to ensure ENEC benefits from the latest best practices
Media Relations
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Oversee the development and implementation of the annual media relations strategy for ENEC and its subsidiaries, including local English and Arabic media, international media, industry media, as well as online and social media to ensure ENEC’s image is well presented.
• Manage, review, and approve the development of all media content, including press releases, statements, speeches, articles etc. in both English and Arabic to ensure the right messages are communicated.
• Liaise with local, regional and international media and key media organizations to monitor ENEC and its subsidiaries’ representation in the local, regional, and international media, and respond to any concerns related to the corporation. This is to be done directly, through consultants, or through line reports.
• Support the education of local media on nuclear energy, the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program and ENEC and its subsidiaries’ to ensure accurate reporting, and to monitor ENEC and its subsidiaries’ representation in the local, regional, and international media, and respond to any concerns related to the Enterprise.
• Support all departments in how to respond to direct media queries and crisis communications.
• Develop and review policies and procedures for media spokespersons, and provide written and verbal statements and responses to media to support in how to respond to crisis communications.
• Review and distribute media reports following key events or announcements to ensure areas of improvement are identified.
Digital Communications
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Develop a high-level strategy in line with the corporate vision and mission for the usability of the corporate website and that of its subsidiaries.
• Create and implement a dynamic organization-wide digital communications strategy supporting ENEC and its subsidiaries’ objectives and ensuring mission, message and brand are used professionally and effectively across the internet, from the main website and sub-sites through to third party websites.
• Oversee the management of ENEC’s corporate external websites through inhouse resource and agency management. Ensure the strategic and tactical use of the corporate websites and social media channels to manage our key messaging, enhance our reputation and to respond quickly and decisively to counter any inaccurate or potentially damaging comments
• To be responsible for the assigned budget ensuring that expenditures are within the allowable limits.
• Oversee ENEC and its subsidiaries on social media and ensure timely and regular posting of selected messages, in line with agreed content calendar.
• Work closely with the different functions to ensure fulfilling digital/online requirements.
Corporate Communications Activities
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Review of strategic reports and briefing documents for Leadership on relevant industry issues and events for decision-making.
• Manage the executive positioning program to ensure the Enterprise’s image is enhanced through the positioning of the MD and key spokespeople.
• Oversee crisis communications planning and implementation, and ensure perception and risk issues are identified and mitigated in a timely manner. Ensure crisis and issues management handbook is updated regularly.
• Develop market research, and coordinate the annual public opinion poll
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Communications or Media Sciences
• 7 years of relevant experience
• Understanding of nuclear energy industry
