Job Description Summary
The Solution Architect Leader is responsible for driving the strategic technical vision, solution design excellence, and customer value creation across the full portfolio of Digital substations, Grid Automation, and advanced & complex applications. This role will lead a team of Solution Architects to develop scalable interoperable and future‑ready architectures while supporting pre‑sales technical architecture development, customer engagement, and lifecycle solution support.
The leader will be accountable for steering solution differentiation, ensuring technical compliance and homologation, enabling cross‑functional collaboration and elevating customer experience through high‑quality technical presentations, workshops, and co‑creation engagements.
Roles and Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead mentor and develop a high‑performing team of Solution Architects.
- Set strategic direction for solution development, technical positioning, and customer‑focused architecture activities.
- Establish best practices, workflows, and governance for solution design and technical validation.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and customer‑centric problem solving.
Solution Architecture Development
- Drive the development of scalable, interoperable, and integrated end‑to‑end solutions including digital substations, centralized and distributed architectures, and communication systems.
- Ensure solutions incorporate optimized hardware, software, networks, cybersecurity controls, and system interfaces.
- Build strong value propositions highlighting technical performance, reliability, TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), and system‑wide benefits.
- Lead the creation of reference architectures, solution roadmaps, and application frameworks for global and regional markets.
- Oversee PoCs, demos, workshops, and pilot implementations to validate feasibility and demonstrate value.
Solution Differentiation & Value Creation
- Ensure solutions differentiators are aligned with market needs and address customer pain points.
- Demonstrate value propositions through technical performance, TCO, and system‑wide benefits.
- Drive proof‑of‑concept (PoC) demos, workshops, and pilot project initiatives to showcase solution feasibility and benefits.
Pre‑Sales Proposal & Customer Engagement
- Lead high‑impact customer presentations, technical workshops, and problem‑solving sessions.
- Engage with key stakeholders (end‑users, consultants, EPCs, utilities) to understand requirements and design tailored solutions aligned with their roadmap and operational challenges.
- Validate technical compliance of proposed solutions in alignment with customer specifications.
- Drive solution‑in strategies by developing strong technical positioning for GA solutions in specifications and tenders.
- Identify new application opportunities and lead the creation of use cases relevant to modern substation automation, grid automation, and digitalization.
- Drive continuous product and solution improvement through insights/ROE from field performance and voice of customer (VoC).
- Collaborate with Product Management COE & R&D to develop product improvement roadmaps and next‑generation solutions.
- Ensure timely support to tendering teams with accurate technical inputs, diagrams, and narratives.
- Participate and lead new product improvement process strategy and roadmaps.
- Develop & Lead GA ECT & customer training programs, knowledge‑sharing sessions, and enablement materials.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical / Software Engineering, Power Systems, Telecom, Computer Engineering, or related experience.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in Solution Architecture, Substation & Grid Automation, or Digital Substation domains.
- Proven experience leading technical teams.
- Experience in technical pre‑sales and solution design.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
Desired Characteristics
- Previous experience in customer‑facing roles is a plus.
- Experience with GE Vernova Grid Solutions or similar platforms is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with cloud‑based solutions, digital twins, and edge computing is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Understand the latest solution trends for energy transition, including wide area monitoring, Centralized / Virtualized Protection & Control solutions, Virtualization, Security landscape, Asset Management, Integrated Digitalized Solutions.
