Job summary

EDGE Group in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Senior Range Services Technician to support the setup, maintenance, and operation of test ranges used for evaluating equipment and vehicles. You will work with engineers and clients to ensure accurate testing and safe, compliant operations.

You will prepare test sites, manage equipment, and contribute to data collection and reporting, while following SOPs and safety protocols in a defense testing environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
• Minimum 2 years in electrical/mechanical maintenance, preferably in defense or testing.
• Arabic speaker, fluent in English.
• Strong technical troubleshooting and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow SOPs and safety regulations.

REMAYA helps our clients verify and validate the performance of their platforms and systems through rigorous test and evaluation practices. We apply scientific methodologies and Systems-Engineering principles to gather critical performance data on test platforms and provide users with an evidence base which allows them to make well-informed, data-led decisions about their platforms and systems. REMAYA operates a secure test and evaluation facility, known as XRANGE. From its secure island setting, XRANGE provides over 350km2 of test range area as well as up to 10,000ft of airspace to assess platforms and systems in operationally realistic conditions and scenarios. Open all year around to both UAE and Internation clients and supported by dedicated infrastructure, advanced instrumentation and data capture systems, it is a unique testing environment in the heart of the Middle East. Our expert engineering teams support our clients with trials planning and advisory services across their product lifecycle, from concept to in service upgrades. The Senior Range Services Technician supports the setup, maintenance, and operation of test ranges used for evaluating equipment, vehicles, or other products. This role involves preparing test sites, supporting the operational setup of testing equipment, and ensuring safety and compliance with testing protocols. The technician works closely with engineers, clients, RCO, SMEs, and other technical staff to facilitate accurate and efficient testing processes.

Key Accountabilities:

Test Range Setup and Maintenance:

• Prepare test sites by setting up equipment, barriers, targets, and other necessary materials.
• Work with Engineering Services to set up and support the deployment of testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable performance.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of test range facilities and equipment.

Services Infrastructure:

• Working with the Operations team, RCO’s and SME’s, ensure that client booked temporary infrastructure is in place
• Provide technical support for ad-hoc builds and targetry – including any mechanical/electrical work necessary
• Ensure clients are supported with Hygiene units and associated fresh water, AC and power

Test Operations:

• Operate a variety of testing equipment and systems as required for specific tests.
• Assist in conducting tests, including vehicle, ballistic, environmental, or other specialized tests.
• Record commercial data and observations during tests, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Safety and Compliance:

• Ensure all test set up activity comply with safety regulations and standard operating procedures.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect personnel and equipment.

Data Management and Reporting:

• Ensure the relevant documentation is completed for the deployment of targets, facilities and field support services as booked by clients
• Maintain detailed logs and records of all test activities and services delivered
• Maintain a log of all support equipment, its condition and arrange for any upkeep or upgrade as required
• Assist in preparing technical reports and summaries for review by engineers and management.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with engineers, clients, and other technical staff to plan and execute support services for tests.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding test plans, progress, and issues.
• Participate in project meetings and provide input based on test range operations.

Equipment and Inventory Management:

• Manage inventory of test range equipment, tools, and supplies.
• Coordinate the procurement and replacement of equipment and materials as needed.
• Implement inventory tracking systems to monitor usage and maintain adequate stock levels.

Experience & Qualifications.

• Diploma degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
• Min 2 years of experience in electrical, mechanical or maintenance—preferably within a defense, range, or test environment.
• Arabic Speaker, Fluent in English
• Strong technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Mechanical and Electrical capability – field repair and maintenance
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a testing environment
• Physically fit due to environmental challenges
• Able to drive multiple types of vehicles
