Job summary

WorleyParsons Arabia Limited Co is seeking a Sr Construction Engineer in Abu Dhabi to lead construction support for oil & gas projects. You will ensure compliance with specifications, coordinate with the client, and support project engineers across all life-cycle stages.

The role requires ADNOC project experience, offshore exposure, and strong stakeholder engagement. You will drive constructability reviews and mentor multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 15 years of Oil & Gas or Petrochemical experience.
  • At least 5 years in a mega Oil & Gas/Petrochemical project.
  • ADNOC project experience required.
  • Offshore project experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Be conversant with and fully comply with the HSSE plan.
  • Promote involvement of Construction in design, fabrication and planning work-packs.
  • Develop familiarity with client construction support providers and contractors.
  • Maintain responsibility for all construction and completions activities.
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary environment to deliver results within expectations.
  • Drive cost-reduction and productivity initiatives.
  • Assess effectiveness of working practices for continuous improvement.
  • Chair constructability reviews and interface with client for fabrication queries.
  • Build professional relationships with client procurement and construction groups.
  • Ensure constructability is considered early in work scope and packs.
  • Participate in work-pack preparation, testing requirements and vendors selection.
  • Ensure work-packs meet scope requirements and flow correctly.
  • Update project plans and supporting systems logic.
  • Conduct offshore surveys with the design team as required.
  • Address fabrication and installation queries with timely solutions.
  • Liaise with Project Engineers to maintain priorities.
  • Liaise with engineering disciplines to resolve fabrication and construction queries.
  • Coordinate with vendors and sub-contractors as needed.
  • Identify shutdown requirements in work-packs with advance notice.

Job Scope

The Sr Construction Engineer is responsible for providing construction support, ensuring that all project work is carried out according to client fabrication and installation specifications. They coordinate with the client to ensure proposed construction and work methods are clearly understood and fit for purpose, support the Project Engineers throughout all phases of the project life‑cycle, and ensure work is performed per plans and specifications by expediting review comments on documents and drawings. The engineer reviews design packages early in the project to eliminate rework and optimize construction, chairs constructability reviews, and serves as the interface with the client for all fabrication and construction related queries.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and drive the involvement of Construction in areas of technical design, fabrication and installation work‑pack preparation, and planning.
  • Develop and maintain a familiarity and appreciation of capability and ongoing workload with client construction support providers and contractors.
  • Maintain responsibility for all construction and completions activities.
  • Work effectively within a multi‑discipline collaborative environment to deliver results within expectations.
  • Promote cost‑reduction and productivity‑enhancing initiatives.
  • Assess the effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view of continuously improving.
  • Chair and participate in constructability reviews.
  • Build and maintain a professional constructive relationship with client procurement and construction groups.
  • Ensure constructability is inherent within the design by being involved at the early stage of work scope and work‑pack compilation and development.
  • Involve in work‑pack preparation, including testing requirements, specialist tools and equipment, and identify specialist vendors to perform identified tasks.
  • Ensure contents of work‑packs meet scope requirements.
  • Update logic of work on the plan and supporting systems.
  • Conduct offshore surveys with the design team as required.
  • Address fabrication and installation queries, providing timely solutions.
  • Liaise with Project Engineers to ensure priorities are maintained.
  • Liaise with engineering disciplines to effect solutions to fabrication, construction and implementation queries.
  • Liaise with vendors and sub‑contractors as required.
  • Ensure any shutdown requirements are clearly identified in the work‑pack and that advance notice is given to the client.
  • Ensure fabrication details are clear and complete.
  • Obtain feedback from the fabrication contractor and offshore installation team to continuously improve work‑packs.
  • Ensure timely IFC construction comments are received from the client.
  • Be responsible for transport and installation plans.
  • Ensure commissioning strategy is prepared and included in work‑pack deliverables as required.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience in a similar position in a mega Oil & Gas or Petrochemical project.
  • ADNOC project experience is required.
  • Offshore project experience is required.
  • Good interpersonal and team engagement skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and develop effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritize work to achieve them.
