Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to assess and treat patients with developmental speech and language delays and disorders, including swallowing disorders, across children and adults.

Responsibilities include detailed case histories, diagnostic reasoning, and developing intervention programs integrated into learning and daily routines, while collaborating with the SLP team and other agencies.

Formación

• Post-graduate experience in Speech and Hearing Sciences or Speech Language Pathology.
• Registration or membership with a recognized national or international agency preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Provide speech, language and swallowing therapy plans for patients (adults and/or paediatrics).
• Take in-depth case histories including medical, social, psychological and educational information.
• Coordinate and liaise with the SLP team and external agencies for coordinated care.
• Monitor equipment use and maintain infection control standards.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and participate in CPD/CME for re-licensing.

Descripción del empleo

Provides support to a caseload of patients with developmental speech and language delay and disorder, and swallowing or feeding disorders in adults and/or paediatrics, appropriately. This includes developing and implementing specialised speech and language treatment plans for such individuals.

Facilitates and study in-depth case histories to include medical, social, psychological, educational and developmental information

Advises others regarding the management and care of patients with communication needs and oro-motor difficulties

Investigates skills and broad knowledge of standardized assessments together with sound, analytical clinical reasoning skills in order to form a baseline measure or differential diagnosis to plan a program of intervention

Deliveries therapy intervention ensuring that speech, language and communication programs are an integral part of the patient's learning and daily routines

Coordinates and works as a member of the SLP team providing an efficient and effective service, and liaising with internal and external agencies.

Provides timely and targeted individualized management, treatment and advice for patients, involving families, carers and educators and providing appropriate recommendations and training to professionals from other agencies and other disciplines

Monitors all use of equipment, reporting any faulty behaviour and contacting maintenance/supplier for any required repairs/updates

Develops standard precautions for infection control

Maintains the strictest confidence in relation to patient information whether formally or informally recorded

Attends regular staff meetings within the department/ Maintaining and assisting in the enforcement of up-to-date clinical and professional knowledge development, according to organizational/unit/s requirements (e.g. minimum of CPD / CME hours per year required for re-licensing)

Manages shortage of materials to supervisor at earliest convenience, ordering and approving replenishments when necessary

Accountabilities

Clinical competency and performance measurement (safety, efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction) and management for assigned unit/s

Desired Candidate Profile

Required:

NLT 2 years of post-graduate experience in field of Speech and Hearing Sciences or in Speech Language Pathology.

BSc in Speech & Hearing, or Speech Language Pathology, Speech or Communications Sciences

Disorders

AND Current National License or membership in a recognized international agency preferred

MSc. in Speech & Hearing, or Speech Language Pathology, Speech or Communications Sciences

Disorders (will reduce 1 year from the required years of experience) Candidates with Msc will be accepted with basic degree in psychology or language.
