Job summary

Amana Healthcare is seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist to assess and treat swallowing, speech, and language disorders across inpatient and outpatient settings. The role requires paediatric and/or adult specialties and proficiency in dysphagia management.

You will apply evidence-based guidelines, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and deliver individual, group, and family therapy while maintaining clinical records and progressing through cases with care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
  • Current licensure with a relevant regulatory authority (HCPC/DOH/DHA or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in rehabilitation or post-acute care settings.
  • Expertise in adult neurorehabilitation including assessment and management of swallowing and communication disorders.
  • Ability to independently manage a complex caseload and commit to ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct screening, consultation, comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
  • Apply evidence‑based practice and international clinical guidelines to deliver effective therapeutic interventions and develop patient‑specific strategies.
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy sessions across inpatient, outpatient, community, and educational settings.
  • Review patient histories to identify underlying causes of impairments, including congenital, developmental, or acquired neurological conditions.
  • Treat patients across all age groups for disorders such as stuttering, dysphonia, swallowing difficulties, and speech delays related to hearing loss.
  • Perform instrumental and bedside swallowing assessments and prescribe appropriate diet modifications based on impairment.
  • Develops and implements specialized therapy plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals and family members, while tracking progress and maintaining accurate clinical records.
  • Participates in professional development activities, conferences, and training to stay updated on emerging treatment methods and technologies.

Reporting to the Rehabilitation Team Leader, the Speech and Language Pathologist is responsible for assessing and treating patients with swallowing, speech and language disorders by utilising best practices in patient healthcare in adherence with DOH and Amana Healthcare policies, procedures, guidelines and standards. They will manage an Inpatient and/or Outpatient Department caseload depending on operational requirements which is why the candidate will require paediatric and/or adult speciality and dysphagia competencies.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, Speech Pathology, or an equivalent recognized qualification.
  • Current professional licensure/registration with a relevant regulatory authority (e.g., HCPC, CORU, DOH, DHA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience, including senior-level clinical experience in rehabilitation, neurological, medical, or post-acute care settings.
  • Demonstrated expertise in adult neurorehabilitation, including assessment and management of communication, cognitive-communication, swallowing disorders, dysphagia, tracheostomy, stroke, and acquired brain injury.
  • Strong multidisciplinary collaboration skills with the ability to independently manage a complex caseload and demonstrate commitment to continuing professional development.
Desirable
  • Postgraduate training or certifications in dysphagia, instrumental swallowing assessment, tracheostomy management, cognitive communication, or neurological rehabilitation.
  • Experience in quality improvement, research, clinical audit, or service development initiatives.
  • Experience supervising junior therapists, students, or support staff.
  • Experience delivering education, training, and contributing to clinical guideline development.
