Job description

Overview

The Incumbent is an Oncological Surgeon who provides services to patients of any age group including diagnosis pre- and post-operative care of all major and minor operative cases and procedures in the field of oncological surgery and general surgery.

Responsibilities

• Performs all functions and duties of an oncological surgeon and general surgeon provides expert medical care for ambulatory and hospitalized patients including pre- and post-operative cases and such surgical procedures as are within incumbent's competence.
• Provides consultation services to physicians and other surgeons and other specialists if and when required.
• Assumes after-hours responsibilities for the care of assigned surgical cases and makes daily rounds for those hospitalized.
• Orders diagnostic laboratory studies and X-ray examinations determining the diagnosis and prescribing applicable therapy.
• Determines the eligibility of patients for admission.
• Adheres to the By-laws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Department and assures that work performed is in keeping with the established standards of the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Hospitals.
• Consults with anesthesiologist on the choice of anesthesia to be used.
• Participates in and contributes to in-service activities such as lectures conferences and rounds.
• Participates in the Quality Assurance activities of the Service (morbidity and mortality reviews peer review activities etc.).
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of the department.
• To follow appropriate international guidelines DHA regulations & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship.
• Post-graduation and Super specialization in surgical oncology from a recognized medical university.
• At least Five (5) years of practice limited to oncological surgery since certification.
• Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
• Must be highly skilled in the particular field of practice with mature clinical judgment and ability to provide professional leadership. He/she must have a thorough knowledge of Surgical Department policies and procedures with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personality which inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization.
• Current licensure in country of origin and with DHA license to practice general surgery and Oncology Dubai UAE.
• Communication interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co‑workers superiors patients & families.
