Job summary

Penspen is urgently seeking a Specialist Commissioning Electrical for one of its offshore PMC projects in Abu Dhabi. You will lead field activities, provide specialist technical support for pre-commissioning and start-up of offshore electrical systems, and ensure compliance with project specs and HSE requirements.

Candidates should have 15+ years in electrical commissioning, with offshore experience and hands-on expertise with switchgear, transformers, generators, MCCs, VFDs, UPS, and protection

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 15+ years of experience with offshore projects; strong offshore commissioning background.
• Strong practical experience with HV/MV/LV switchgear, transformers, generators, MCCs, motors, VFDs, UPS and emergency power systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and datasheets.
• Experience in PMC/EPC environments and ADNOC Offshore is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist technical and field support for electrical pre-commissioning, commissioning, testing, energization, functional verification, troubleshooting and start-up of offshore electrical systems.
• Offer hands-on expertise for electrical distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators, MCCs, motors, VFDs, UPS, protection systems and emergency power interfaces.
• Ensure electrical systems are safely tested, energized and functionally verified per procedures, project specs and client standards.
• Perform and coordinate electrical pre-commissioning activities.
• Verify electrical installation against approved drawings and specifications.
• Conduct visual and physical inspections of electrical equipment.
• Verify cable termination, gland installation, identification and routing.
• Check panel, switchgear and MCC installation readiness.
• Carry out electrical testing in accordance with approved procedures.
• Perform insulation resistance testing and conductivity verification.
• Support high-voltage withstand/dielectric testing where applicable and authorized.

• Ensures electrical systems are safely tested, energized and functionally verified in accordance with approved procedures, project specifications, manufacturer recommendations, HSE requirements and Client/Operator standards.
• Perform and coordinate electrical pre-commissioning activities.
• Verify electrical installation against approved drawings and specifications.
• Conduct visual and physical inspections of electrical equipment.
• Verify cable termination, gland installation, identification and routing.
• Check panel, switchgear and MCC installation readiness.
• Carry out electrical testing in accordance with approved procedures.

• Perform continuity and conductor verification.
• Support high-voltage withstand/dielectric testing where applicable and authorized.

Experience Required

• Minimum 15+ years of experience, with at least 5 to 8+ years significant in offshore project.
• Proven experience in offshore oil & gas electrical commissioning is strongly preferred.
• Strong practical experience with HV/MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, transformers, generators, motors, VFDs, UPS and emergency power systems.
• Demonstrated experience in electrical testing, energization, functional testing and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, termination drawings and electrical equipment datasheets.
• Preferred experience from PMC/EPC Background.
• Previous ADNOC Offshore Experience is advantage.
