The Sonographer provides an essential diagnostic link between patients and the physicians responsible for their ongoing care. Working within HealthHub Discovery Gardens, the position supports multiple specialties by delivering timely and technically precise ultrasound examinations that contribute to diagnosis, treatment decisions, pregnancy monitoring, and clinical follow-up. The clinic serves a highly diverse patient population, making clear communication and respectful patient interaction particularly important. Alongside technical imaging competence, the Sonographer is expected to maintain patient dignity, follow DHA requirements, uphold infection-control procedures, and ensure imaging documentation is accurately integrated into the electronic medical record.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general diagnostic ultrasound examinations independently in accordance with DHA regulations, approved clinical protocols, and professional imaging standards.
• Obtain diagnostically useful images while selecting appropriate scanning techniques, patient positioning, transducer settings, and equipment parameters.
• Review referral information and relevant patient history before beginning each examination.
• Explain ultrasound procedures clearly and address patient concerns to create a comfortable and professional examination experience.
• Conduct abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, and gynaecological ultrasound examinations within the individual 's approved scope of practice.
• Apply experience in vascular, small-parts, and musculoskeletal ultrasound where clinically required and appropriately credentialed.
• Recognize relevant sonographic findings and provide accurate imaging information to physicians and specialists according to established clinical procedures.
• Adapt examination techniques when additional views or measurements are necessary to obtain adequate diagnostic information.
• Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and safety throughout preparation, scanning, and completion of each procedure.
• Work collaboratively with radiology, family medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, internal medicine, paediatrics, orthopaedics, and other clinical services.
• Accurately document completed examinations and associated information within the electronic medical record system.
• Follow patient identification, examination verification, infection prevention, and quality assurance procedures without compromising workflow efficiency.
• Inspect ultrasound systems and transducers routinely and report equipment faults or performance concerns through the appropriate channels.
• Maintain clean and appropriately prepared ultrasound equipment and examination areas between patients.
• Support efficient patient flow within the diagnostic imaging service while maintaining image quality and clinical accuracy.
• Respond professionally to patients from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds and provide consistent service throughout the imaging journey.
• Participate in clinical quality initiatives, professional learning, and continuing development relevant to diagnostic ultrasound practice.

Ideal Profile

Candidates must hold a Bachelor 's degree or Diploma in Medical Imaging, Radiography, Sonography, or another relevant imaging discipline and have a DHA License or DHA Eligibility as a Sonographer. A minimum of 2 years of post-qualification ultrasound experience is required. Applicants should be capable of independently conducting general ultrasound examinations and consistently producing images suitable for diagnostic interpretation. Practical experience in abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, gynaecological, vascular, small-parts, or musculoskeletal ultrasound will strengthen suitability for the position. Previous work within an outpatient diagnostic center, multispecialty clinic, or primary care environment is advantageous. Strong English communication and patient-care skills are essential.
