Job description
The Position

Global customer support is looking for a service engineer based in Dubai United Arab Emirates to assist our regional and global customers. The ideal candidate should have hands‑on experience with marine propulsion systems.

You will be responsible for installing and commissioning Kongsbergs Propulsion & other Systems on customers vessels worldwide as well as providing technical support. If you possess technical qualifications in mechanical systems you have the expertise we are looking for. The chosen engineer will be based in Dubai and should be ready to travel globally.

Independently perform on‑site repair and service tasks on various products with minimal technical assistance. Take charge of ensuring that specific maintenance tasks are carried out professionally on a daily basis by liaising with the customer on‑site while also maintaining all necessary technical documentation.

Key Accountabilities
  • Respond to customer call outs on an ad‑hoc or planned basis to conduct maintenance repairs and modifications activities and carry out defect investigations resolve operational problems and support the Service Manager to develop and improve relevant techniques.
  • Provide call out service outside of working hours.
  • Ensure that the assignment is completed in a safe timely and efficient manner to the relevant engineering specifications and highest quality work standards to the customers satisfaction following company detailed procedures.
  • Complete site tasks reporting and monitoring all issues and where necessary liaising with other engineering functions including third party contractors within the assignment areas.
  • Report progress and issues to the services manager.
  • Prepare daily work done reports and detailed service reports on completion of work in scope.
Key Experiences and any Qualification Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred.
  • Formal education may be substituted with evidence of technical proficiency acquired through experience/internal training.
  • Solid understanding and familiarity with various products systems their functions and applications.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and manuals.
  • Relevant work experience in the maritime industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Desirable knowledge of control systems.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Advantageous to have knowledge and experience with Kongsberg Maritime Propulsion products.
Role Specific Dimensions
  • The position will offer exposure to both internal and external clients.
  • Extensive travel (both domestic and international) is necessary sometimes on short notice.
  • Employees must be able to work extended hours when needed.
  • Availability for Service Support is required 24/7 including weekends and holidays.
  • Responsible for having personal transportation suitable for Service Support responsibilities.
  • Employees may be exposed to extreme working conditions ( and cold climates) and must be physically capable of moving on off and around vessels regularly.
  • Proper documentation and health requirements for overseas travel are mandatory and must be kept up to date by the individual.
  • The employee must meet job-specific Health and Safety certification requirements.
