Job summary

Halian is seeking a Senior Robotics Engineer to lead the development of visual localization for autonomous driving and robotics, focusing on map-based localization for precise vehicle positioning in urban environments.

You will design localization frameworks aligning live semantic observations with HD maps, integrate BEV features, pose estimation, SLAM, and VIO, collaborating with perception, navigation, and control teams to deploy scalable software in Linux environments.

Qualifications

• Experience with map-based localization using HD maps (Lanelet2/OpenDRIVE).
• Strong background in differentiable optimization and neural pose estimation.
• Proficiency in non-linear state estimation using Ceres/g2o/GTSAM.
• Expertise in Bayesian filtering and autonomous navigation systems.
• Knowledge of coordinate transformations (SO3, SE3) and 2D/3D geometry.
• Proficient in modern C++ (C++17/20) and Python.
• Experience with ROS 2 and robotics software on Linux.

Responsibilities

• Design algorithms to align live detections with HD map layers.
• Develop localization modules using BEV representations for pose estimation.
• Implement differentiable pose solvers and neural matching approaches.
• Create robust camera-based SLAM and VIO solutions for urban environments.
• Integrate localization with navigation, planning and vehicle control.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deploy localization software.
• Research and implement state-of-the-art localization, mapping, and ML techniques.
