Job description

We are looking for a Senior Technology Engineer to join the our client which is a leading UAE bank.

The selected candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining a robust, scalable, and secure Data Science Platform , enabling high-performance data workloads and supporting enterprise-grade analytics and AI use cases.

You will work in an Agile + DevOps environment, collaborating with cross-functional squads to implement automation-first, cloud-native, and containerized infrastructure solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Platform Engineering & Automation
• Hands‑on Tier‑2 production experience with Cloudera platform including installation, upgrade, and maintenance
• Optimize performance of Spark jobs in collaboration with Data Engineering teams
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for data and analytics projects using tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or ArgoCD
• Develop automated workflows using scripting languages (Python, Shell, Groovy)
• Automate security and compliance checks as per regulatory standards
• Implement observability tools and performance monitoring practices
• Infrastructure & Containerization
• Build and manage containerized environments using Docker or Podman
• Deploy and manage Kubernetes/OpenShift‑based solutions
• Perform automated patching and lifecycle management of platform components
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance of the infrastructure
• DevOps & Agile Delivery
• Work closely with product squads and stakeholders to translate requirements into deliverable engineering solutions
• Contribute to backlog grooming, sprint planning, and DevOps cycles
• Drive platform enhancements from design to delivery in alignment with architectural and security standards
• Deliver robust, production‑ready solutions that minimize operational overhead

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

Act as a technology evangelist and collaborate with teams from Security, Architecture, Agile, and Data Chapters. Facilitate platform adoption and onboarding of new use cases and data teams. Promote reusability, standardization, and simplification across the platform. Represent the platform in relevant forums and design reviews.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise:

• Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in technology engineering roles
• Minimum 4 years of hands‑on Hadoop production experience (preferably with Cloudera)
• Strong expertise in Cloudera (installation, maintenance, tuning)
• CI/CD tools: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD
• Scripting: Python, Shell, Groovy
• Linux OS, basic networking, Git
• Ansible or similar automation frameworks
• Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift
• Platform observability and monitoring practices

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Data Science platforms/products
• Public cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Experience in the banking or financial services domain
