The role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Technical Safety Engineer to join our Iraq Operations Business. The role is full time residential based in Sharjah, UAE.

Key Objectives
  • Contribute to the technical delivery of engineering excellence
  • Execute assigned scopes of work
  • Provide discipline expertise and supervision

  • Act as the primary discipline engineer or technical authority on projects of small to medium complexity
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Executing Assigned Scopes of Work
  • Participate as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering assignment
  • Direct documentation preparation for assigned projects
  • Ensure successful completion within budgeted time and cost constraints
  • Define engineering approaches and plan schedule
  • Evaluate problems, investigate and establish performance specifications
  • Check engineering calculations and drawings per industry codes
  • Assist less senior technical professionals and ensure compliance with procedures
  • Participate in audits and incident investigations
  • Perform complex engineering tasks related to major projects
  • Participate in site visits, project reviews and design workshops
Providing Discipline Expertise
  • Solve problems requiring new approaches or innovative uses of existing approaches
  • Modify guidelines and devise new strategies as needed
  • Serve as technical leader or major contributor to complex projects
  • Apply creativity and professional judgment to formulate results based on standards and experience
  • Develop unique solutions for complex technical problems and anticipate potential issues
  • Provide technical input and support to proposals
Supporting and Supervising Task Delegation to Team
  • Supervise a small work group of technical staff and provide coaching
  • Perform managerial tasks such as task assignment, planning, scheduling and budgeting
  • Coordinate engineering work, approve schedules and recommend additional resources
  • Manage small projects, overseeing cost, schedule, resources and risk
  • Provide HSSE leadership and ensure safety compliance

  • Build collaborative relationships across projects, offices and regions
  • Engage with inter‑disciplinary community and promote knowledge sharing
  • Persuade stakeholders to align on technical criteria and decisions

Expected
  • B.Sc. or equivalent engineering degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience in major brownfield oil & gas projects, including at least 5 years in a similar role
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Specific experience in oil and gas projects across their lifecycle in the GCC region (preferred)
  • Pre‑FEED and FEED experience required
  • Detailed Engineering experience preferred
