Job summary

Worley in the UAE (Ruwais) is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with 15+ years in the petroleum/chemical industry to lead process engineering scopes for EPC projects. You will ensure deliverables, schedules, and interface management with licensors and contractors.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, fluent English, and GCC/UAE project experience. You will drive HSE compliance, quality control, and effective collaboration with EPC teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
• Minimum 15 years of working experience in Petroleum/Chemical Industry.
• Knowledge in the technology selected or eager to learn.
• Experience in Process Engineering Plans, schedules and Quality Control.
• Full understanding of the EPC contract.
• Understanding of License agreement with Licensor of the technology.

Responsibilities

• Review deliverables list from Contractor, comparing with contractual deliverables and scheduled deliverables.
• Control, monitor and report Contractor’s performance against the schedule.
• Maintain an Action Log for the scope and report open actions to PM weekly.
• Enforce the Management of Change process and ensure proper filing of all documents.
• Prepare Weekly/Monthly Reports and coordinate with Licensors and Contractors.

Key Accountabilities

Job Specific Accountabilities

• Review deliverables list from Contractor, comparing this with contractual deliverables and scheduled deliverables
• Control, monitor and report Contractor’s performance against the schedule
• Keep track of all technical communication between Contractor/Licensors and Company/Licensors
• Keep track of all Notes of Meetings related to the scope
• Maintain an Action Log for the scope and reporting to PM the open actions, including expected closing, every Friday
• Follow up and reporting on all Licensor deliverables and reporting to PM and Process Manager 1 day before the weekly management meeting with Contractor
• Ensure proper filing of all documents related to the scope
• Enforce the Management of Change process
• Prepare the Weekly Report for PM approval
• Prepare BPSC presentation materials in collaboration with the Process Manager for PM approval
• Prepare Monthly Report in collaboration with Process Manager for PM approval
• Ensure the effective liaison and co-ordination by Contractor between all parties
• Ensure that all tasks assigned by the Project Manager are completed on time and within budget
• Attend internal/external Project reviews and other meetings, as necessary
• Keep up to date with and adhere to Company and Project related procedures
• When required, assist Contractors in their interface management
• Attend internal progress and engineering meetings as required with the Contractors and Licensors
• Participate in continuous risk analysis of the engineering works
• Ensure all deliverables and other requirements in ADNOC VAP procedure are fulfilled
• Track all VAP proposals
• Support the Process Manager with any confidential issues
• Support the Process Manager with all tasks assigned
• Responsible for preparing confidentiality procedures within the area for PM approval
• Run confidential trainings and keep record of all NDA and individuals trained within the area.

Generic Accountabilities

• Ensure detail design documentation is developed, implemented and closed-out to the satisfaction of Company.
• Ensure a high level of HSE Performance by the EPC Contractor and its Sub Contractors with respect to Engineering in the Home Office phase, as well as to Execution during the Site Office phase.
• Be familiar with Company engineering/design requirements.
• Keep up to date with and adhere to Company and Project related procedures
• To ensure that state-of-art technology is applied in the selection of equipment/packages.
• Ensure /support the PMT team in the execution of construction works.
• Monitor and coordinate study equipment failure data to ensure a timely submission of information in CMMS/other Records to implement the most appropriate maintenance strategy.
• Develop/improve predictive, preventive and major maintenance programs for plant equipment/systems in his plant/area to improve reliability.
• To ensure that as-built/final documentation is initiated, developed and issued as per project requirements.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

Minimum Qualification

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal

• Minimum 15 years of working experience in Petroleum/Chemical Industry.
• Knowledge in the technology selected or eager to learn
• Previous knowledge of preparing and implementing Process Engineering Plans, schedules and Quality Control
• Full understanding of the EPC contract
• Understanding of License agreement with Licensor of the technology

Professional Certifications

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent through experience).

WORK CONDITION

Physical Effort

• The jobholder mostly operates from a normal office environment. During pre-commissioning and Commissioning phase regular inspection tours in the plant will be required.

Work Environment

• In a later stage, the position is located both at the operating site at Ruwais some 250KM from the company head office location at Abu Dhabi. He/she may travel occasionally to overseas parent-company locations and to offices of technology suppliers and contractors and may join external meetings. The Jobholder is on call outside hours in case of significant problems or emergencies.
• As required, undertakes business trips to B4 Project Home Offices at EPC Contractor’s office locations.
