Job Description

Wood is looking for a Senior Planning Engineer to join our UAE Business Unit in the in‑house Project Controls team. This full‑time, on‑site role is located in Sharjah, UAE and follows a 5/2 work schedule.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Provide the Project Management team with accurate monthly cost and progress reports, including early warning, forecast completions, critical path and trend analyses.
  • Ensure all work is performed to quality standards and in line with company procedures.
  • Maintain a high standard of safety at all times.
  • Advise project team on cost control, planning and contract compliance.
  • Track progress and reports against actual cost approved baseline plan.
  • Prepare special progress reports, cost reports and forecasts for team activities.
  • Assist in change management process with project leaders and contractors.
  • Coordinate routine progress reporting and participate in reporting on process and cost.
  • Develop a suitable Work Breakdown Structure covering project requirements and scope of works.
  • Baseline, update and maintain detailed project schedules for all phases, including design development, construction, pre‑commissioning and start‑up.
  • Coordinate with client representatives, team members, contractors and subcontractors to incorporate all project requirements.
  • Follow up with Project Engineers and other stakeholders for required reports and schedules within deadlines.
  • Present cost reports, schedules and manpower histograms to project team and client when required.
  • Provide training, mentoring and ongoing project controls guidance to project team members.
  • Support development of Project Controls team members.
  • Identify and share lessons learned to support continuous improvement of project performance and company operations.
  • Demonstrate fair knowledge of planning and schedule integration between Engineering, Procurement and construction.
  • Show hands‑on experience developing EPC schedules during the FEED phase to identify the EPC contractor.
  • Be an outgoing and motivated individual comfortable working in a collaborative environment.
Qualifications
