Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Contract Piping Engineer. You will lead piping design and engineering activities from FEED to detailed engineering, ensuring compliance with various industry standards. The role requires excellent skills in piping materials, solid knowledge of design tools like AutoCAD and SmartPlant. You will work closely with teams across disciplines, provide technical support during project phases, and mentor junior engineers. Strong communication and independent working skills are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• Excellent understanding of codes, standards, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform piping design and engineering activities from FEED to detailed engineering.
• Prepare and review piping layouts, GA drawings, isometrics, spool drawings, and MTOs.
• Develop and review P&IDs, piping specifications, line lists, and valve lists.
• Ensure compliance with ASME, ANSI, API, ISO, ASTM and client-specific standards.
• Perform pipe sizing, material selection, and routing optimization.
• Coordinate stress analysis requirements with stress engineers and review outputs.
• Review vendor drawings and technical documents.
• Interface with process, mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and construction teams.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOP model reviews, and client meetings.
• Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
• Resolve design-related issues during construction and site execution.
• Ensure engineering deliverables meet project quality requirements.
• Follow HSE guidelines and promote safe design practices.
• Support audits and design compliance checks.
• Guide and mentor junior piping engineers and designers.
• Review and approve drawings and calculations prepared by team members.

Design & Engineering

• Lead and perform piping design and engineering activities from FEED to detailed engineering.

• Prepare and review piping layouts GA drawings isometrics spool drawings and MTOs.

• Develop and review P&IDs piping specifications line lists and valve lists.

• Ensure compliance with ASME ANSI API ISO ASTM and client-specific standards.

• Perform pipe sizing material selection and routing optimization.

• Coordinate stress analysis requirements with stress engineers and review outputs.

• Review vendor drawings and technical documents.

Project Coordination

• Interface with process mechanical civil electrical instrumentation and construction teams.

• Participate in design reviews HAZOP model reviews and client meetings.

• Provide technical support during procurement fabrication installation and commissioning.

• Resolve design-related issues during construction and site execution.

Software & Tools

• Use piping design software such as PDMS E3D SP3D AutoCAD SmartPlant.

• Review 3D models for constructability accessibility and maintainability.

• Prepare engineering deliverables using project document control procedures.

Quality & Safety

• Ensure engineering deliverables meet project quality requirements.

• Follow HSE guidelines and promote safe design practices.

• Support audits and design compliance checks.

Leadership & Mentoring

• Guide and mentor junior piping engineers and designers.

• Review and approve drawings and calculations prepared by team members.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
