Job summary

ADNOC Group is seeking an experienced Petrophysicist to lead interpretation and evaluation of petrophysical data, shaping oil and gas reserve calculations and reservoir studies in Abu Dhabi. The role entails coordinating with geoscience teams, advising on well completions, and developing digitization standards to maintain data quality.

The candidate will present findings to management, define project scope for contractors, and enhance formation evaluation models for field development planning.

Qualifications

  • 8 years of varied experience in geo-sciences, drilling, reservoir and petroleum engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and evaluate petrophysical data to determine hydrocarbons, fluid contacts, lithology and properties.
  • Review and consolidate reports, and liaise with team members to integrate results.
  • Advise on well completion, casing depths, cementation quality and tubulars for surveys.
  • Coordinate and contribute to petrophysical studies for exploration to reservoir analyses.
  • Present findings and recommendations to management and stakeholders.
  • Define scope of work, methodology, parameters, timing and costs for contractors.
  • Review data quality control procedures and ensure data quality consistency.
  • Develop procedures for digitizing petrophysical data.
  • Review data to support formation evaluation and reservoir characterization models.
  • Control data handling and processing for single or multiple wells.
  • Optimize rock properties for accurate formation evaluation and reservoir monitoring.

Job Description:

Plans, supervises, coordinates and controls the collection, analysis and evaluation of petrophysical data necessary to predict the presence of hydrocarbons in wells for calculations of oil and gas reserves and for reservoir studies in order to assist in formulating appropriate field development plans.

Job Purpose

Plans, supervises, coordinates and controls the collection, analysis and evaluation of petrophysical data necessary to predict the presence of hydrocarbons in wells for calculations of oil and gas reserves and for reservoir studies in order to assist in formulating appropriate field development plans.

Job Specific Accountabilities
  • Directs and participates in interpretation and evaluation of petrophysical data to determine presence and type of hydrocarbons, fluid contacts, rock matrix lithological model and physical properties
  • Reviews and consolidates reports, and liaises with other team members to integrate petrophysical data and study results.
  • Advises on well completion, casing depths, cementation quality and tubular goods for anticipated surveys including corrosion.
  • Coordinates and participates in formulating petrophysical contributions to exploration, appraisal, field development and reservoir studies. Includes establishing parameters and methodology; and liaising with contractors.
  • Presents petrophysical findings and recommendations to management and other concerned parties, as required.
  • Defines terms of reference, scope of work, methodology, parameters, timing and costs for contractors/consultants involved in petrophysical work
  • Performing ongoing review and update of existing data quality control procedure and monitor its application to maintain consistent acquired data quality.
  • Developing procedures, quality check and standards for digitizing all forms of petrophysical data.
  • Review available data to develop and verify formation evaluation and reservoir characterization model.
  • Controls petrophysical data handling and processing and processing techniques on single well or multi wells (key wells or field wide) basis
  • Optimization of rock physical properties for accurate formation evaluation, reservoir characterization and reservoir’s monitoring.
Minimum Qualification
  • Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent discipline with minor or advanced courses in petrophysics, applied physics or math.
Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills

8 years of varied experience in geo-sciences, drilling, reservoir and petroleum engineering.
