Job summary

EDGE is seeking a software engineer for POWERTECH in Abu Dhabi to develop motor design and testing tools and support certification activities for aerospace propulsion platforms.

Applicants should have 5+ years in C++, C#, Python, and strong object-oriented design, with experience in IDEs such as Visual Studio, PyCharm, and Qt. Knowledge of DO-178C and tool qualification is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of C#, Python, and C++, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience.
• Proficiency in object-oriented software development and design.

ABOUT THE ROLE

About POWERTECH

POWERTECH is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for a wide range of aerospace, defence, and autonomous applications, including fixed- and rotary-wing UAVs and other advanced platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop motor design and test tools to meet the needs of requirements.
• Perform analysis and design activities for engineering applications.
• Develop tools considering qualification needs where outputs are used in certification processes.
• Work in coordination with system, test, and certification teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Good knowledge of C#, Python, and C++, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in these languages.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented software development.
• Experience with development IDEs such as Visual Studio, PyCharm, and Qt.
• Experience with version control systems and DevOps/CI-CD practices.
• Experience with requirements engineering and management processes.
• Experience with software documentation practices.
• Experience with software quality, testing, and configuration management processes.
• Knowledge of DO-178C software development and verification objectives.
• Familiarity with tool qualification concepts and Tool Qualification Levels (TQL) per DO-178C / DO-330.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with motor or electrical machine design tools.
• Familiarity with aerospace/defence software practices.
