The key objectives for this role are
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of instrumentation and control systems to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Create detailed design specifications, select appropriate systems, and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety protocols.
- Provide guidance to the engineering team, conduct technical reviews, and ensure the reliability and efficiency of control systems.
- Coordinate with vendors, clients, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration and quality.
- Develop and oversee plans for testing and commissioning, ensuring proper calibration and functionality of equipment.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- 10+ years of experience in Procurement Quality Management relevant to the QC discipline (Senior Painting / Coating Corrosion Engineer).
- Participation in Vendor & Subcontractor Selection and Approval.
- Procurement Quality Management.
- Inspection & Test – Planning & Execution Management.
- Criticality Rating Management.
- Vendor / Subcontractor Inspections, Audits and NC Management.
- Procurement Quality Objectives & KPIs Management.
- Performance analysis / evaluations of Vendor & Subcontractors.
- Procurement documents and record control management.
- Technical Bid Evaluation, Technical Queries and Change Management.
- Liaising with Third Party Inspection Agencies.
- Procurement Quality Performance Reporting.
- Review & Approval of Vendor & Subcontractor documents.
- Compliance with project applicable codes, standards, specifications, and other special requirements.
Leadership Skill
- Lead and mentor a team of QC engineers and designers, serving as the primary point of contact for QC engineering matters.
- Identify technical issues, define alternative solutions, and make recommendations through official project documents such as technical queries and deviations.
- Allocate tasks, provide guidance, and issue clear directions to ensure efficient project execution.
- Develop project schedules, ensure adherence to timelines and budgets, and monitor project schedules on QC deliverable submissions.
- Coordinate with project/engineering managers, procurement, construction, and other disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Ensure deliverables’ accuracy and completeness, complying with quality standards/specifications.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem‑solving, initiative, and analytical skills.
- Lead, motivate, coach, and manage a team independently, enhancing engineering competence, team building, and responsibility ownership.
- Demonstrate highly effective technical and practical engineering skills in the QC discipline, consistently delivering quality, accurate, and timely work.
- Identify project milestones, delivering deliverables per schedule within budgeted manhours.
Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and understanding of project requirements.
- Manage interface meetings with clients and vendors to progress design scopes.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all instrumentation and control activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety within the engineering team and across the project site.
- Participate in various project workshops/reviews such as Design/P&ID/HAZID/HAZOP/SIL/ALARP reviews, 3D model reviews, constructability, and SIMOPS reviews.

Expected:
- Bachelor’s Degree in QC Engineering or a related discipline.
- Working experience in Painting / Coating Corrosion Engineering.
- At least 15 years of experience in Oil & Gas projects design from conceptual to detailed design stage.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Lead Engineer position for a major greenfield/brownfield project FEED/detailed design.
- Proven experience in selecting instrumentation and control equipment, developing control strategies, and preparing specifications.
- Preferred candidates have expertise in control system design, including loop design, field instrumentation, and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Fundamentals Fieldbus).
- Experience managing a team of 50+ engineers and designers.
- Experience coordinating satellite office teams and managing productivity and quality.
- Hands‑on experience in industry software such as IN Tools, Conval, SPI, 3D model review tools (SPR & Navis Works), MS Office Suite, etc.
- Must be self‑motivated, results‑oriented, multi‑tasking, and flexible to work well under tight schedules in a fast‑paced multidisciplinary team environment.
- Able to communicate in English verbally and in writing with other disciplines & multinational workforces effectively.
- Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods, inter‑discipline coordination.
- Knowledge of related construction practices and economics.
Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Painting / Coating Corrosion Engineer for ADNOC Gas Processing client in Abu Dhabi within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business. The position will be based full time at Abu Dhabi office/site.
