Job summary

Technology Innovation Institute seeks a Senior Optics Researcher to lead R&D on large optical systems for high-power laser applications. The role involves modeling, designing, integrating, and testing complex opto-mechanical assemblies with the local engineering team.

You will head optical design activities, including simulations, tolerancing, stray-light analysis, and beam wavefront control. Collaboration with partners and suppliers, plus potential overseas travel, are expected.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in optics or related field.
• At least 2 years in an R&D environment directly related to optics, or 5 years in optical design systems.
• Good level of English (speaking and writing).

Responsibilities

• Modeling, designing, integrating, and testing large opto-mechanical systems to deliver high-power laser beam systems with the local engineering team.
• Lead optical design activities (simulation, tolerances, stray light analysis, beam wavefront).
• Design and integration of fast steering mirror systems to enable wireless optical communication.
• Optics and coating selection/integration for the wireless optical system.
