Chalhoub Group is seeking a Magento Senior Developer to design, develop, and maintain robust Magento-based applications supporting ecommerce operations in the UAE. You will rewrite and optimize legacy projects, ensuring adherence to Magento standards and best practices.

The role requires deep knowledge of Magento architecture, strong PHP/MySQL skills, and a passion for automation and scalability. A strong CI/CD background and experience with frontend integration is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in ecommerce application development with Magento 2
• Strong knowledge of Magento 2 architecture, modules, APIs and customizations
• Proficiency in PHP and MySQL
• Experience refactoring legacy Magento projects
• CI/CD pipeline experience (Bitbucket Pipelines, GitLab CI/CD or GitHub Actions)
• Frontend integration with Knockout.js, RequireJS, LESS and modern frameworks

What you'll be doing

We are looking for an experienced Magento Senior Developer to join our ecommerce development team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust Magento based applications to support our ecommerce operations. You will also focus on rewriting and optimizing legacy projects built by third parties, ensuring they adhere to Magento standards and best practices.

To succeed in this role, you should have a deep understanding of Magento's architecture, excellent coding skills, and a passion for automation and scalability. A strong grasp of CI/CD workflows and ecommerce application development is essential. Ultimately, a top class Magento Senior Developer will ensure high performing, secure, and scalable solutions while improving development processes.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborating with the development and product team to discuss and implement ecommerce solutions.
• Reviewing and analyzing requirements, designs, and third party integrations for Magento based projects.
• Rewriting and refactoring projects developed by third parties to align with Magento best practices and standards.
• Developing custom modules and extending Magento functionality using the Magento API.
• Troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing Magento based applications for performance and scalability.
• Implementing CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments and maintain code integrity.
• Ensuring adherence to Magento coding standards, security guidelines, and automation practices.
• Maintaining and improving integrations with third party services such as payment gateways, CRMs, and marketing platforms.
• Profiling and improving the performance of backend components.
• Writing and maintaining unit tests, integration tests, and automated regression tests.
• Monitoring system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and proposing optimizations.
• Documenting development processes, configurations, and best practices for team collaboration.

What you’ll need to succeed

• Proven experience as a Magento 2 Developer, with a minimum of 5 years in ecommerce application development.
• Strong knowledge of Magento 2 architecture, including module development, APIs, and customizations.
• In depth understanding of PHP and MySQL.
• Experience rewriting or refactoring legacy Magento projects created by third parties.
• Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g., Bitbucket Pipelines, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions).
• Strong understanding of Magento coding standards, automation tools, and best practices.
• Knowledge of frontend technologies such as Knockout.js, RequireJS, and LESS, with experience integrating modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React or Vue.js) into Magento.
• Hands on experience with Magento performance optimization techniques (e.g., Varnish, Redis, database indexing).
• Familiarity with containerization and DevOps tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with automated testing tools such as PHPUnit, Selenium, or Cypress.
• Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.
• Strong project management and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with large scale ecommerce systems and complex third party integrations.
• Familiarity with Progressive Web Applications (PWA) and Magento PWA Studio.
• Knowledge of Magento Marketplace submission processes and guidelines.
• Certification as a Magento Certified Developer is a plus.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.
