Job summary

ValCera is hiring a senior web engineer to own the web app end to end, from the design system to the data layer, with a focus on building features for moving money. You will ship money-related flows like send, track, onboarding, and recipient management using TypeScript and React, while maintaining strong frontend standards and performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production web applications in TypeScript and React, owning from architecture to release.
• Shipped a product moving money within audit/change-control rules.
• Built or rebuilt a design system or component library with tests for stability.
• Worked across the stack in a Node service on Postgres: endpoints, schema changes, third-party integration.

Responsibilities

• Own the web app end to end, from the design system to the data layer, and the plan for replacing what does not scale.
• Ship the features that move money: send, track, recipients, onboarding, with every state a transfer can be in, quoted, funded, in flight, landed, returned.
• Build the quote flow: a live price with an expiry, held while the customer decides, honoured when they pay, explained when it is gone.
• Cross the service boundary when a feature needs it: an endpoint, a migration, an event consumer, in TypeScript first, Go when it must be.
• Set and hold the frontend standards: typed APIs, Storybook for components, Playwright for every flow that touches money.
• Make the app fast on the phones customers actually have, measured in production with Core Web Vitals, and keep it there.
• Pair with the product manager and designer on scope, and with the mobile team on a shared design token pipeline.

About the Company

A regulated payments company in the UAE, based in Dubai, with a team of less than 80 people. The product is a consumer app for sending money abroad, used by people who send part of every salary home. Transfers reach more than 40 countries and settle over bank, partner and stablecoin rails. Engineering is a third of the company, minor part of it in Dubai, and the product, design and engineering leads have all shipped consumer apps before.

Responsibilities

• Own the web app end to end, from the design system to the data layer, and the plan for replacing what does not scale.

Requirements

• 5 or more years building production web applications in TypeScript and React, including one you owned from architecture to release.
• Shipped a product that moves money, and worked inside the audit and change-control rules that come with it.
• Built or rebuilt a design system or component library that other engineers shipped on, with the tests that kept it stable.
• Worked across the stack in a Node service on Postgres: wrote endpoints, changed a schema, handled a third party failing mid-call.

Nice to Have

• Next.js or another server-rendering framework, with a view on when rendering strategy matters and when it does not.
• Go, enough to read a service and change it with a reviewer.
• Stablecoin or on-chain settlement in a consumer product: wallets, confirmations, and what you show while a transaction is pending.
• Live pricing or FX in the browser: quotes that expire, rates that move, and the honest way to show both.
• Pay by bank or open banking funding flows, on any market's standard.
