Job summary

Institute for Healthier Living Abu Dhabi is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to design, build, and maintain full stack web and mobile applications from Abu Dhabi in an onsite environment. You will own end-to-end engineering processes in lean teams, including DevOps, QA, and external partner handovers.

You will work with Django, React, and React Native to deliver secure, scalable solutions across web and mobile platforms, with cloud infrastructure on Azure and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of software engineering with hands-on full stack development.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript with Django and React.
• Ability to deliver independently within small teams with limited DevOps/QA support.
• Experience reviewing/owning apps built by external partners, including maintenance.
• Experience deploying and troubleshooting cloud-hosted apps, preferably on Azure.
• Proven CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Strong REST APIs, authentication, authorization, secure coding, and observability.
• Experience with React Native and mobile releases.
• Experience automated testing across backend, web, and mobile.
• Docker hands-on experience.
• Ability to diagnose end-to-end issues via logs and monitoring.

Role Overview

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining full stack web and mobile applications for high-impact projects. As part of our team in Abu Dhabi, you'll work in an ONSITE environment and have significant ownership of end-to-end engineering processes, particularly in fast-paced, lean teams where every engineer contributes to DevOps, QA, and support. You will also be involved in reviewing and owning work from external partners and be integral to maintaining robust, high-quality software systems.

Must have requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with substantial hands‑on full stack development.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript, with practical experience in Django and React.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver independently within small teams, even with limited DevOps and QA support.
• Experience reviewing and assuming ownership of applications built by external development partners, including maintenance, deployment, and technical handover.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting cloud-hosted applications, preferably on Azure.
• Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI, including automated testing, release controls, and rollback.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, authentication, authorisation, secure coding, and resilient integrations, including failure handling and observability.
• Proven experience with React Native, including mobile debugging, build config, and shipping iOS/Android releases.
• Experience with automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing across backend, web, and mobile.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker for reproducible application environments.
• Ability to diagnose end-to-end issues using logs, monitoring tools, and systematic debugging strategies.

Nice to have requirements

• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, ARM templates).
• Experience with serverless architectures and container orchestration (Kubernetes or similar).
• Prior experience in rapid scaling environments or greenfield projects.
• Background with automated performance, load, or security testing.
• Knowledge of agile software development methodologies and practices.
• Demonstrated mentoring or technical leadership within engineering teams.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs or SaaS platforms.
• Good understanding of modern frontend state management libraries (e.g., Redux, Zustand).
