Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Cost Estimator with 10+ years of cost management experience in the construction industry for large-scale infrastructure projects. You will lead pre-contract estimates, develop BoQs, and support procurement strategies while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure cost goals are met.

Your role includes preparing tender documentation, conducting market analysis, and participating in risk and value management activities to inform commercial decisions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of cost management experience in construction.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering or surveying discipline.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent English technical writing abilities.
• Experience in pre-contract quantity surveying for infrastructure and civil projects; major events experience preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-contract cost estimates, cost plans and benchmarking for large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Develop and manage BoQs and pre-tender estimates using CESSM and industry standards.
• Support procurement strategies, including packaging, tendering and contracts.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align design intent with cost objectives.
• Prepare and review tender documentation, pricing schedules and contract conditions.
• Conduct market analysis and engage with supply chain for cost data and procurement planning.
• Assist in risk and value management and cost control functions.
• Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks.
• Attend and represent in commercial meetings.

Job Description Overview

An experienced Estimator with 10 years of quantity surveying and cost estimating expertise, specializing in large-scale infrastructure and civil engineering projects, including pre-contract cost planning, BoQ preparation, and procurement strategy development. Skilled in utilizing CESSM and industry-standard estimating practices to deliver accurate cost estimates, risk assessments, value engineering, and tender documentation while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary project teams. Your role Lead the preparation of pre-contract cost estimates, cost plans, and benchmarking for large-scale infrastructure projects. Develop and manage Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and pre-tender estimates using CESSM and other industry standards. Support the development of procurement strategies, including packaging, tendering, and contract formation. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment between design intent and cost objectives. Prepare and review tender documentation, including pricing schedules and contract conditions. Conduct market analysis and engage with supply chain to inform cost data and procurement planning. Assisting in risk and value management and cost control functions. Assisting in identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks. Attendance and representation at commercial meetings.

About you

Sr Cost Estimator shall have a minimum 10 years of experience in cost management within the construction industry. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline. Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Possess good project background and proven English language technical writing ability and skills. Strong background in pre-contract quantity surveying for infrastructure and civil engineering projects including masterplanning, preference for major international events experience (e.g. expos, sports events, cultural festivals). Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
