Job summary

EDGE is seeking a Senior Engineer - Mechatronics to design, develop, integrate, and deploy advanced electronic test equipment and automated test solutions for defence and aerospace systems. The role bridges product development and production, delivering hardware, firmware, and software that ensure qualification and validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Computer, Mechatronics or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 12 years (Bachelor's) or 8 years (Master's) of relevant experience in electronics, aerospace, defence, or test equipment development environments.
• Strong experience in electronics design, embedded systems, test equipment development, and hardware/software integration.
• Working knowledge of MCUs, FPGAs, firmware development, software programming, automated test systems, and engineering development tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain electronic test equipment, test jigs, and automated test solutions for PCB assemblies, subassemblies, and subsystem-level testing.
• Develop firmware and software applications to support test automation and product validation.
• Interpret technical specifications, ICDs, and test requirements to create effective hardware and software test interfaces.
• Lead and support mechatronics projects, participate in design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and promote best practices in testing, validation, and systems integration.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer - Mechatronics for Halcon to support the design, development, integration, and deployment of advanced electronic test equipment and automated test solutions for defence and aerospace systems. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between product development and production by developing innovative hardware, software, and test solutions that ensure product quality, validation, and qualification compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain electronic test equipment, test jigs, and automated test solutions for PCB assemblies, subassemblies, and subsystem-level testing.
• Develop firmware and software applications using multiple programming languages and development tools to support test automation and product validation.
• Interpret technical specifications, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and test requirements to create effective hardware and software test interfaces.
• Lead and support mechatronics projects, participate in design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and promote best practices in testing, validation, and systems integration.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 12 years (Bachelor's) or 8 years (Master's) of relevant experience in electronics, aerospace, defence, or test equipment development environments.
• Strong experience in electronics design, embedded systems, test equipment development, and hardware/software integration.
• Working knowledge of MCUs, FPGAs, firmware development, software programming, automated test systems, and engineering development tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing automated test equipment (ATE), production test systems, qualification test rigs, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or system-level test solutions.
• Experience within defence, aerospace, missile, UAV, or other mission‑critical engineering environments, including systems engineering and product qualification activities.
